Denise Richards Shares That She Lost a Loved One a Month After Her Wedding
"It meant so much to us having them all there," The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Denise Richards said.
Denise Richards was surrounded by loved ones at her wedding to Aaron Phypers on September 8, 2018, and she is especially happy that she got to share her special day with one person in particular.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newcomer recently revealed on Instagram that her father Irving Richards' fiancée Deb passed away a month after her wedding. "So grateful my dad [Irving Richards], his [fiancée] Deb [and] her two daughters were with us to celebrate. This was the last time I saw her, sadly she passed away a month after our wedding," Denise shared, along with a photo of the whole family on her wedding day. "She brought a lot of light into my dad’s life since losing my mom. It meant so much to us having them all there."
Denise also opened up about Deb's passing in her latest blog on Bravotv.com. "It meant so much to us that they came to support and celebrate us," she wrote.
Denise received several messages of condolences on Instagram. Camille Grammer, Dorit Kemsley, and Rebecca Romijn, all of whom attended the wedding, showed their love and support for Denise and her family in the comments to the post.
Irv's wife and Denise's mother, Joni, passed away after a battle with cancer in 2007. Irv lit a candle in honor of Joni at Denise's wedding, as we saw in Tuesday night's episode of RHOBH. "The ceremony was beautiful, and my dad lighting the candle for my mom was very personal for me, because I wanted to include my father," Denise wrote in her blog. "I know my mom was there with us and would have been so incredibly happy."
And the RHOBH actress saw a couple of very special signs that her mom was there for her on her big day. "What you didn’t see on the show was a dragonfly that flew around us during the whole ceremony. My friend Natalie jumped up and said, 'That’s her mom!' I felt it was her too," Denise wrote. "Behind us when we were pronounced husband and wife dolphins were jumping out of the ocean. My mom loved dolphins, and I felt it was another sign from her that she was there."
Denise got emotional while opening up about her mother's passing in an interview during the episode. "I was so close to my mom. My mom had me when she was 17 years old. We were just best friends," she shared. "It was 13 years ago that she passed away, and it's still hard, you know? I went through a lot these last quite a few years. I know she would have loved Aaron. She would have been so happy for me and the girls, but it's part of life."
