Are Drs. Contessa and Scott Metcalfe Actually Done With Couples' Therapy?

Dr. Contessa Metcalfe and her husband, Dr. Scott Metcalfe, aren't seeing eye to eye about returning to couples therapy this season of Married to Medicine, as you can see in the above clip. That tension came to a head when they sat down for dinner with fellow couples Dr. Simone Whitmore and Cecil Whitmore and Toya Bush-Harris and Dr. Eugene Harris in the May 23 episode of Married to Medicine.

How to Watch

Watch Married to Medicine Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo and streaming on Peacock and the Bravo App.

The conflict really began when Dr. Contessa expressed that she and Dr. Scott are still having problems communicating. "This is not healthy anymore. We get to the point [where] we start tearing you down because you tear me down, too," Dr. Contessa shared. "In the marriage, it starts feeling like you're trying to break me. You're trying to break me down. And so then we don't actually work as a team; we just try to win."

After their fellow Married to Medicine couples weighed in on the situation, Dr. Scott agreed to be better about working through his issues with his wife. "I'm going to stop running away from arguments," he said. "I'm going to commit myself to sticking around and try to hash it out."

Dr. Contessa also said that she would stop trying to convince her husband to go to couples therapy. "You don't want to do it, I'm not gonna make you do it," she said. "It's not something that you want to do, and I'm not gonna bring it up again."

Dr. Scott then promised Dr. Contessa that he would "plan on romancing you a lot more." The two said "I love you" to one another and shared a kiss.

Dr. Contessa recently showed just how well things have been going with her and Dr. Scott since this episode of Married to Medicine. On Instagram on May 23, Dr. Contessa shared a post featuring video of her and Dr. Scott that featured the couple looking all smiles and in love. She also included hashtags like, "#DontGiveUpOnMe," "#DontGiveUpOnUs," "#familyandloyalty," "#honor," "#love," "#respect," and "#commitment."

The Real Housewives of New York City's Eboni K. Williams was certainly feeling the love, commenting on the post with four red heart emojis.

This Instagram post comes after Dr. Scott recently supported Dr. Contessa as she delivered the commencement speech at her alma mater, Saint Louis University's School of Medicine, over the weekend.

Prior to the Married to Medicine Season 8 premiere, Dr. Contessa and Dr. Scott spoke in an exclusive interview with Bravo Insider about their dedication to getting their relationship back on track this season, especially as parents to three children (daughters Lauren and Laila and son Landon). "I just think it kind of shows some of our growing pains in that sense, and even kind of how we have different perspectives on things and what’s going on and just how two people try to figure it all out in the world — and knowing there are three little people who are watching, and trying to figure it out as well," Dr. Contessa shared. "So, just hope and pray, I mean, that you do your best, the best you can, ‘cause you know the stakes are really high."
