In the comment section of the post, Dr. Imani also provided some information on the inspiration behind Idris’ name. “You and your son both have beautiful Arabic names. Coincidence?” asked one of her followers. “When I was born, my parents were Muslims in the Nation of Islam, hence my name,” Dr. Imani explained. “I just kept the tradition in my son’s name.”

In another comment, Dr. Imani explained that her son is actually specifically named after someone who has a special meaning to her. “How did you come up with his name?” asked another one of Dr. Imani’s followers. She explained, “Jazz musician Idris Muhammed made my favorite song called 'Loran’s Dance,' so I named my Idris after him.”

During an interview with The Daily Dish, Dr. Imani shared that Idris has been handling her divorce very well. Although her ex-husband, Phil, is not Idris’ biological father, she mentioned that he was a father figure for most of his life.

“Idris is great. I mean, even when we told him, he was kind of like, ‘Oh, OK.’ And it took him like a day or so to kind of let it sink in. But after that, he was fine, and I think a lot of that is because he sees that I’m happier now, too,” said Dr. Imani.
