Drew Sidora Opens Up About Having a “Breakdown” Following a Family Emergency
Following a “family crisis,” the peach holder emotionally discussed what she’s been going through lately.
After missing out on Aaron Ross’ 40th birthday party due to a “family emergency,” Drew Sidora opened up about what she’s been going through.
On Episode 2 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 15, which aired May 14, Drew returned home to her then-husband, Ralph Pittman (the spouses’ split was confirmed in March 2023, but more on that later), as well as sons Josiah “Jojo” and Machai, and daughter Aniya, after visiting her dad in Chicago.
“I’ve been going through it with my dad,” Drew said to Ralph on the episode about the aforementioned family crisis. “I think I’ve been pretty strong through it, but literally, when I go back to Chicago, it’s like, ‘Oh, wow, Daddy’s in a nursing home… He’s in a wheelchair, which is still so crazy to me that my dad’s in a wheelchair, because when he went in, he was still walking.”
As Drew explained in an interview on the episode, her father has Alzheimer’s. And now that he’s living in a nursing home, she’s also worried about how her mom is handling it all.
“Of course, as a family, we worry about my mom too, and her strength,” Drew said. “It’s just a lot on us right now. It was really important for me to be there for them.”
Though Drew initially had a “breakdown” when she saw her dad in person in Chicago, she noted that he started to recognize her more once her mother arrived. She also said he had a positive reaction when she played him her new song.
“My dad does not recognize me all the time, but when he heard me singing and knew that it was me, I was extremely emotional, because that has been our connection my whole life.”
Drew said she wishes he could see what she’s doing in her career now, including the fact that she’s releasing her single, “Already Know” (which Ralph wrote and produced). Still, “I am doing it for him,” she said.
Drew explained that music had brought her and her dad closer together over the years, and it’s also been a source of happiness for her and Ralph. After they collaborated on “Already Know,” Drew said her marriage was able to get to a better place.
“We really are in a good place,” she said at the time. “We’re doing music, so we’ve not had to focus so much on our issues, and I feel like for that, we’re in the best place we’ve been in I think in the whole eight years.”
As previously mentioned, Drew and Ralph decided to end their marriage in the spring. Fans will have to keep tuning in to find out what happened between the exes to take them from the “best place” in their relationship to a split.
