Eboni K. Williams Opens Up About What It Means to Finally Know Who Her Father Is
The RHONY cast member received love and support from Bravolebs after sharing her exciting family news.
Eboni K. Williams is reflecting on her childhood and giving new insight into what it was like growing up not knowing her dad following her update that she has since found out who her dad is and has been in contact with him.
Eboni took viewers inside her journey to find her father during Season 13 of The Real Housewives of New York City, and on Bravo's Chat Room last week shared the news that she and her dad have since connected. Bravo's Chat Room co-hosts Porsha Williams and Gizelle Bryant were definitely excited to be there as she shared the news.
In an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday (August 24), Eboni opened up more about her youth alongside childhood photos. "This little girl never knew who her daddy was. Not a name, a picture or address. No father to say he was proud at her college graduation. No father to walk her down the aisle at her wedding,” she wrote. “Absolutely no idea about that entire half of her identity…and therefore she was…incomplete.”
While her post shouts out her mom for being there for her then and now, it also sheds more light on what it was like for her to grow up not knowing her dad. “Her mother was and is amazing. But not even the best mother can take the place of a father’s love and protection,” Eboni wrote. “It was a void that persisted for 37 years. I presumed I simply didn’t deserve a dad. It made me feel illegitimate and inadequate. Despite the academic achievements, beauty pageants crowns, professional success…I struggled to feel ‘enough.’ I was a fatherless child. And it hurt.”
The Instagram post highlights how she now feels now that she knows who her dad is (she has also confirmed that she has half-sisters as well). "And just like that…I FINALLY know who my father is,” Eboni said. “I know his name. I know his loving smile. I know his debonair style of dress, and his gentle voice. This man can never go back and raise me. But simply knowing who he is….and knowing my beautiful and fantastic sisters has been one of the most incredible blessings of my life. If you have always [known] both of your parents’ identity, I hope you say a little prayer today [because] to know exactly where you come from is a blessing from God.”
Several Bravolebs showed Eboni love in the comments section of the post. Sonja Morgan wrote, "Thank you for sharing."
"Beautiful," fellow RHONY cast member Leah McSweeney commented. "I’m so happy you found what you were looking for. Love love love."
Bravo stars from across the country also supported Eboni. "Thank you for sharing!" Reza Farahan wrote. "You’re an amazingly beautiful person, inside and out!"
Alexia Echevarria commented, "This is so amazing. I’m so happy for you."
Dr. Simone Whitmore commented with heart-eye emojis, and Kary Brittingham added, simply, "Love this."
