Emilia Bechrakis has written a children’s book! To the Moon and Back for You is inspired by the Million Dollar Listing New York mom’s journey with in vitro fertilization. Since giving birth to her adorable one-year-old daughter, Zena, Emilia has spoken out about her experience, and has connected with many other mothers who have gone through the same thing. Emilia spoke to BravoTV.com to describe what it’s been like to open up the conversation about IVF.

Emilia explained that after writing little notes to Zena throughout her pregnancy, she was motivated to turn the words into a story not only with her daughter, but with other moms.

“I had a rough pregnancy. I didn’t only struggle with having a baby, I struggled throughout my pregnancy because I almost lost Zena. I wrote her little notes, and I said when she gets born, and as she gets older, every night I’m going to say these words to her.”

In a March 12 Instagram post, Emilia revealed that she had previously stayed very quiet about her experience.

“When I was going through IVF and my pregnancy, I was very private and hesitant to talk about it with anyone. I think so many women face the same struggles of feeling alone and on a roller coaster of emotions through this journey,” she said.

Now, she has become a person that other women reach out to to share their own stories.

“When I started to open up about IVF, all these women reached out to me,” she said. “When people write to me, I am in awe that they even want to tell me their story. I am in awe that they even want to hear my opinion. And I value what they say to me so much.”

Emilia hopes that her children’s book will serve as a meaningful way for parents to tell these stories to their kids in the future.

“I felt that maybe one day, for the women that have been successful, they have this beautiful little story that they can read to their child, the same way that I read this beautiful little poem to my daughter at night,” Emilia said. “No matter what the journey was, no matter how hard it was for me to get her, it was all worth it and I would do it all over again just to have her.”
