We Have a Major Update on Emily and Shane Simpson's Marriage

Season 14 of The Real Housewives of Orange County followed the ups and downs Emily Simpson was experiencing in her marriage to Shane Simpson. But as fans saw in the Season 15 premiere of RHOC, which aired on October 14, the couple is definitely in a better place, and Emily's hip surgery late last year played a big part in that journey.

"I think 11 years [of marriage] is huge because we probably hit rock bottom last year," Emily said in an interview in the episode. "I think it's my fault because I didn't recognize that he's a great dad and a great husband. And then coming out of surgery I felt like I had a whole new life — and he was there with me to share that and move forward."

In the Season 15 premiere episode, the pair headed out to dinner to mark their wedding anniversary. When asked how he's been for the last six months, Emily responded, "You've been amazing. Seriously. Last year was really bad because I was in a lot of pain. I couldn't even bend over and put my underwear on."

At BravoCon 2019, Emily reflected on the dynamic fans witnessed between her and her husband during Season 14, telling fans, "I understand that people have opinions because of what they see, but obviously there’s more to someone’s personality than just what’s on the show. At the end of the day, I try not to take it personally. It’s my life, it’s my marriage, it’s my husband, and that’s just the way it is."
