Heather Dubrow Warns Heather Altman About Her Marriage to Josh: “This Is Scary...”
Heather Altman revealed that she found the similarities between her relationship and the Dubrows' relationship uncanny.
Heather Dubrow and her husband Terry Dubrow shared some much-needed wisdom with Heather Altman and Josh Altman during Season 15, Episode 8 of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles (which aired August 28).
The Real Housewives of Orange County couple met up with the Altmans for dinner to celebrate their offer being accepted on a Beverly Hills mansion. While discussing their old Orange County house that the Altmans sold for them, Terry made a comment about how, while he loved the space so much, he never got to enjoy it because he worked all the time.
Unsurprisingly, this hit home for Heather Altman, who has spoken widely this season about work/life balance issues with her career-driven husband.
"Oh, funny. I feel the same way, Terry," noted the realtor in a confessional. "Can you say that a little louder so it sticks in [Josh's] head? Please, educate us. Make us wiser."
After talking a bit about how much the Altmans' kids adore their mom — and how she sometimes has trouble letting Josh take equal care of them — Heather Dubrow had even more wisdom to offer.
"Do not take a page out of my book, because what happens is [the men] never do anything. You both work. You both have huge jobs and they're equally important. There has to be equity in the home," she said. "And I'm telling you, I messed up. I always made sure Terry was taken care of and he was all that. He has to do things with the children that you'd be doing and you just have to trust him and release it."
Back in her confessional, Heather Altman said that Heather and Terry Dubrow are basically her and Josh in 10 years. "They are telling us in a looking glass what our future is. And this is what I'm feeling right now," she said. "This is scary."
Josh Altman admits he's a "workaholic" amid issues with Heather Altman
Josh Altman, however, doesn't deny he's wrapped up in his job. In fact, he embraces it.
"If you want to categorize me as a workaholic, that's fine. I'll take it. And yeah it's a stress on the family 100 percent," he said in a confessional. "But the confidence when you win some of these high dollar listings? It's amazing."
Heather Altman and Josh Altman's marriage issues, explained
As mentioned, Heather Altman has been open about the challenges she's faced in her relationship with Josh.
"It's been tough," she admitted on MDLLA Episode 7. "There's been lots of difficulties with work and kids. But then I've got a husband who's like, 'We need to go here, and I need you to show up to this listing appointment down in Newport. And then I need you in San Diego. And I need you in Arizona and I need you in Miami. And check this.' Which is okay — I love being a part of all of that — but then I have to sacrifice some things."
Nevertheless, Josh and Heather Altman are in a better place today. "It finally took over me, and I had a moment, a big realization of, ‘Hey we can’t keep going at the rate that we’re going. It’s not physically possible and it’s not fun anymore, and I want to enjoy life,'" she explained in a June interview with The Daily Dish.
She continued: "So we had an epiphany and had a good heart-to-heart, and we’re on the same page now [that] we’ve grown this company to where we want it right now. We don’t need to be opening more offices, and we also don’t need to be collecting more real estate at the moment [where] I need to manage construction sites."
