Jax Taylor Reflects on His Arrest in Hawaii: "Some Good Came Out of That"
The #PumpRules SURver opens up about the incident to The Daily Dish.
With some distance behind him, Jax Taylor is now reflecting on his July 2015 arrest during theVanderpump Rules trip to Hawaii. The SURver got into trouble with the law after he took a pair of sunglasses from a local store valued at more than $300. He was later charged with theft in the second degree and entered a no-contest plea. Viewers saw the incident play out on Monday's episode, tears and all. And as seen in the clip above, Jax's arrest caused his friends — and girlfriend Brittany Cartwright — to have to scramble to make the $11,000 bail in order to get him out of jail before their flight back to L.A.
Looking back, Jax admits the whole thing wasn't his proudest moment. "Obviously I made some choices that I wish I wouldn’t have made," he told The Daily Dish. "I kind of needed to be knocked down a little bit. The Hawaii thing was a perfect example — my ego was getting a little out of control. I was drinking a little bit too much and I kind of felt like I was a little bit untouchable. And it was just very wrong what I did."
Since the arrest, Jax has tried to make good with those he hurt. And, he does see the silver lining in the very public mistake. "Obviously I feel absolutely horrible about it. I am human. I made a mistake. I apologized to everybody," he said. "It's cost me a lot of money and I just kind of went into the mentality where nobody can touch me. And I kind of needed to be knocked down a little bit. It was a humbling experience. So it was good. Some good came out of that, what happened in Hawaii."
He also addressed the incident in an apology that aired on Watch What Happens Live on Monday.
