Jeff Lewis and Boyfriend Break up After a "Rough" Period

Jeff Lewis is officially single again. He confirmed his breakup from boyfriend Scott Anderson on his SiriusXM show, Jeff Lewis Live, this week.

“We called it quits over the weekend,” he said. “The last eight weeks has been kind of rough. He’s had a lot of anxiety, a lot of frustration, and it got to a point where I felt that he was hypercritical of me. It was a lot of negativity and always complaining. I feel like I worked very hard in the relationship. I felt like I was very good to him.”

Scott, who had suggested they go to therapy, ended the relationship, but Jeff noted on the show that he didn't want to go to therapy and he does "regret" that decision.

The split came after “weeks of negativity." The Flipping Out designer said, "It just started wearing on me. And then, he just stopped communicating, so then I could feel him next to me — angry, pouting, seething, resenting me. I just felt like maybe he might need some distance to gain some perspective. So, we had a conversation and it’s interesting because he was like, 'I think we should break up.'"

Jeff and Scott began dating last spring following his split from his partner of a decade, Gage Edward. Jeff and Scott went Instagram official in September.

He added on the show, “There was just a real lack of communication with us. We speak two different languages. And for me, I need more affirmation and acknowledgment and those kinds of things once in a while. The beating me up and the hypercriticism, it just became suffocating to me.”

Jeff hopes that they ended things on a positive enough note and that "hopefully eventually we can be friends."

In a text, which he said did sometimes verge on less-kind territory, Jeff told his now ex-boyfriend, Look, you are a very nice, kind man and you have been such a positive influence on me over the past year, and I’m very grateful and I so appreciate how sweet and generous you’ve been with Monroe and I wish you the best."

Monroe is Jeff's 3-year-old daughter with ex Gage. As for Gage, last month he confirmed that he is not dating anyone for the time being.

“I’m single and I’m not ready to mingle,” he said at the time. “I’m focused on Gage, and I’m focused on my daughter and business. “
