Original Real Housewives of Orange County cast member Jo De La Rosa has taken a long break from reality television. Now, she’s returning to the world of pop culture with a new podcast, Popcandy, which features a series called Life After Housewives, where former ‘Wives can share what they’ve been up to since stepping offscreen.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on  Peacock and the Bravo App.

To kick off the series, Jo herself was the first former Housewife. She was interviewed by her podcast cohost, photographer Crystal Nicole, who asked all kinds of questions about her experience on the show and what life has been like since leaving. Jo’s been through a lot in the years since her Housewives days, and she did not disappoint when it came time to spill tea.

Jo explained that after her time on Bravo, she spent about a year and a half getting paid to do appearances at clubs. When Crystal asked what she did after that, Jo got super real and said, “I ran out of money.”

To make ends meet, Jo moved in with one of her best friends and took a $400 bartending course.

"I had a publicist at the time, and he was like, 'Jo, you cannot be seen bartending.' People were like, 'What the hell are you doing bartending here? You just got off a hit show!'"

“I was like, OK, let me find a bar that is hidden. So I got a job at the Corner Club in Woodland Hills, which was this dive bar." Of course, Jo eventually created a karaoke night at the bar that eventually started to draw large crowds. TMZ discovered that she was working as a bartender, and covered it as news.

Jo explained that because this all went down before Instagram and influencers became popular, reality stars who were no longer on shows had to find other sources of income.

"Back then, there were a lot of reality stars that had gotten off of like, American Idol, and were also doing the same thing," Jo explained. "We were all seeing each other in clubs. A lot of them were promoters."

Now, Jo is trying her hand at the whole influencer thing. In addition to Popcandy, she shares fashion, beauty, and lifestyle content with her followers.
