Captain Lee Is "Terribly Disappointed" in Ashton Pienaar This Season of Below Deck

Kate Chastain explained why she kept the drama a secret from the Below Deck boss on WWHL.

The Valor crew has been abuzz over the conflict between Kate Chastain and Ashton Pienaar in Season 7. However, Captain Lee Rosbach is watching it all play out for the very first time as Below Deck airs Mondays at 9/8c, just like the rest of us — and he doesn't like what he sees.

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck on Bravo Mondays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

Captain Lee shared his reaction to Ashton's behavior this season during Below Deck's 100th episode celebration on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on January 6 (clip below). "I was terribly disappointed," the Below Deck boss said.

When host Andy Cohen asked if Captain Lee had been in touch with Ashton since this season of Below Deck, he said, "No. I'm sure he knows how I feel."

Kate explained why she didn't inform Captain Lee about everything going on with Ashton during the charter season on WWHL (clip below). "I already felt like the crew was accusing me of getting preferential treatment — which I don't, I work very hard — so I felt like if I told Captain Lee what Ashton did, he would have fired him. And then they would have turned it around and been like, 'Oh, Kate got Ashton fired,'" she said. "So it wasn't really in anyone's benefit."

She also shared what was going through her mind during the incident in the van with Ashton on the way home after one of the crew's nights out. "I just have learned the hard way, unfortunately, that when somebody gets violent, it's better just to remove yourself from the situation because you don't know if they're gonna get worse," Kate said.

Though Kate hasn't had the best relationship with Kevin Dobson this season, either, she praised him for stepping in when things got heated in the van. "That's how bad or scary Ashton was. Kevin was no fan of mine, but Kevin was screaming, 'Pull over the van, please!'" Kate recalled. "It was intense."
