Kate Chastain and Ben Robinson's Current Friendship Status Is...

Kate Chastain's relationship with Ben Robinson has been as choppy as the Caribbean Sea waters as the two have navigated being colleagues, friends, and maybe even more for three seasons of Below Deck. But last season, things between the chums seemed more strained than ever as the yachties dealt with their new relationships and pressures while aboard the Valor. 

Now that Kate and Ben will be taking a break from working together as Below Deck's chief stew now works with new chef Matt Burns this season, where do things stand between the yachties today? Kate gave The Daily Dish an update on her friendship with Ben when we caught up with her earlier this month, and it's guaranteed to take you on a roller coaster of emotions, kind of like what it's like to watch their relationship on Below Deck. Kate Chastain Reacts to Ben Robinson's Departure from Below Deck

As for Ben, he noted that his friendship with Kate has gone through some changes over the years and that "it's not like it used to be" when The Daily Dish spoke with him in December 2016 after Season 4 wrapped. But at the time, he also said that he would "love to" repair his relationship with Kate and the rest of last season's Below Deck crew in the future. 

When Ben decided not to return to Below Deck this season, Kate said that she understood why the chef needed to take a break. "Ben was in the Mediterranean and Caribbean all in one year and that was really intense. He felt he wanted to go to the land life, was focusing on his catering business and traveling," she said during an interview with The Huffington Post. "I can’t speak about future seasons. I wouldn’t be surprised if he returned though. He was a fan favorite with his witty banter. I don’t mind bearing the brunt of that with him because he’s really that funny."
