Kate commended the Below Deck Mediterranean chief stew for being so honest with charter guests.
Kate Chastain is giving Aesha Scott her flowers.
The Below Deck alum said she was quite impressed with the chief stew's hospitality skills and the way she deftly navigated all the hurdles in Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9.
“I’ve enjoyed watching you this season,” Kate told Aesha in the Below Deck Mediterranean After Show. “You’re doing great. And so many challenges this season.”
Aesha was clearly flattered by the words and referred to the massive “f-ck up” that went down in the June 3 season premiere.
“Oh my god, those provisions,” Aesha said.
How Aesha Scott handled a major problem at the start of the charter season
Season 9 Episode 1 found Aesha facing several stress-inducing situations, including a late and incomplete alcohol delivery. After realizing there was only one bottle of Champagne, the longtime yachty phoned the provisions company to fix the situation. Aesha was told there would be additional alcohol sent at 11:45 the next morning, just 15 minutes before the charter guests arrived. But when the emergency delivery finally arrived, she quickly discovered the rosé and wine were missing.
There was nothing more Aesha could do, so she decided to be completely upfront and informed the guests about the situation.
Kate Chastain applauds Aesha's straight-forward approach with guests
“You know what I like about you? When the guests arrived, you’re like, ‘There was a massive f-ck up,’” Kate said about the ordeal. “I’ve always tried to hide them and you’re like, ‘Guess what, guys? We don’t have your stuff.’”
She continued: “I was like, ‘Honesty!’ It never occurred to me. I was like, I didn’t know we were allowed to be honest about things that weren’t our fault, which is liberating!”
Aesha explains why honesty is always the best policy
Aesha confirmed it was a terrific feeling and explained why she always kept it 100 when delivering hard or unfortunate news.
“Oh my god, it was amazing,” she said. “You just have to get it out. It’s the same with anything. The same with relationships, friendships — you have to say it. You need to wait for the blow and eventually things are gonna calm down and simmer down. Everyone gets over it. I never even considered anything else because if I tried to cover it up, I cannot just pull red wine out of my a—hole.”
“I would marry you if you could,” Kate quipped. “Let me know when that happens. That’s a special talent.”
Aesha said that the alcohol fiasco was not only frustrating but was also impossible to hide. So rather than attempt to conceal the problem, she simply pulled “the Band-Aid off."
“When you’re honest, it disarms people,” she said.
