Kathryn Dennis Reveals How She Maintains Her Sobriety by Creating a "Sanctuary" for Herself
The Southern Charm fashionista shares an update on her life these days.
Since Kathryn Dennis went to rehab ahead of Season 4 of Southern Charm, she has figured out the perfect formula to help her maintain her sobriety, and it involves living a more low-key life.
"I stay out of a lot of the things I used to do, obviously, which is the social events, the silly parties and what not. I spend a lot of time at home," she recently told Entertainment Tonight. "And I try to make my home feel like my sanctuary."
"I am really so numb to all the craziness outside of me, that I live in the perfect little bubble," she added.
She shared a similar sentiment with The Daily Dish in June 2017, revealing how after she returned home from treatment, she knew she had to make changes to maintain the positive steps she was making in her life.
"When I returned to Charleston, it was very new. I had lived there my entire life, so everything had become very expected," Kathryn told The Daily Dish at the time. "And whenever I got back, it just felt like I was seeing everything in a new light and I was having to find things to do because everyone just goes out and gets drunk. That's the social thing, that's the normal thing. And when you're sober, it's like, 'OK, well what am I going to do today? Go to the park, I guess.' But I guess returning I just learned to see Charleston in a different light."
She added at the time: "It really wasn't new places. It was like new ways to experience them. Like there's pedicabs and carriages and I've never actually used them. They're typically for tourists, but I started taking them at night just to go to South of Broad [Street] when no one's down there. It's quiet and that was one of the funnest things I've done since I got back."
You can follow Kathryn's journey on Season 6 of Southern Charm, airing Wednesdays at 9/8c.
