“I have always wanted to be a mother and it’s still a little bit surprising but I’m overjoyed!” she told PEOPLE. “I’m a very emotional person anyway, but this is another heightening of emotion … I feel really good about where I am in my life being pregnant now.”
Haqq is currently 14 weeks along in her pregnancy and is due in March. She told PEOPLE that she prefers not to disclose the father's identity at this time.
The Keeping up with the Kardashians star couldn't contain her excitement over becoming a mom in a post on Instagram. "I listen to my heart, and I’ve decided that the rest of my life will be the best of my life. I’m pregnant!" she gushed. "I didn't know when, I just knew one day. God said it’s my turn, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the little spirit that grows inside of me. I am yours, baby, and you are mine."
Kardashian made sure to send her BFF all the love in the comments of her Instagram post. "Congratulations Mika May!!!!!" she wrote. "I am so beyond overwhelmed with love and happiness!!!! God is GREAT!!!! We are all so blessed!!!! I love you and baby madly."
Haqq has also received the most heartfelt congrats on Instagram from several members of the Bravo family, including Mercedes "MJ" Javid, Lilly Ghalichi, Brielle Biermann, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, and Kristen Doute.
Her twin sister Khadijah Haqq McCray, who is a mother of three herself, also couldn't be more thrilled to have a new addition to the family. "Your little miracle is on the way!!! Already sharing this journey with you has been so amazing Sissy and the greatest times are just ahead," she wrote on Instagram on Friday, September 27. "Malika, you’re going to be such an amazing Mom. You were built for this and I thank you in advance for OUR baby!! I love you two so much!!"
Haqq told PEOPLE that she already knows the gender of the baby, but she's keeping it a secret “for a little bit longer.” “Learning the baby’s sex was a big deal for me and now I feel like I have time,” she said. “I have time to think about nursery ideas, to think about a name. I’m just really enjoying now, getting to a point where I can celebrate being pregnant and [it] not being a secret.”
So far, the pregnancy has been pretty smooth for Haqq, although she admitted she has "a great case of baby brain." “I have been incredibly blessed,” she said. “I have not been sick a day. Not one day. That, for me, has probably been the thing I’ve been so grateful for thus far — coming second to knowing that I have a healthy baby.”
Luckily, Haqq has many marvelous moms around her, including her mother, her sister, and Kardashian to help her get through whatever this pregnancy and motherhood brings.
“I have really amazing models [for] the type of mother I want to be, but I also know that I need to mother my baby the way my baby requires to be mothered,” she told PEOPLE. “A lot of my disciplines and morals and values, that just comes from my mother, the way I was raised, and those are the things that I plan on implementing … but I definitely want to build the kind of mother that I am based around the child that I have.”
