Lala Kent Loves Haters, Botox, and Making Music with James Kennedy
Plus, the #PumpRules SURver spills the details on that unforgettable Tupac bathing suit.
Lala Kent left quite an impression on her fellow SURvers during her debut season of Vanderpump Rules. Along the way, she faced criticism from inside the crew, viewers at home, and even Jenny McCarthy. But she's managed to shake it all off, thanks to a strong philoshophy on how to deal with haters. And now, she's hoping to cause just as much of a stir outside of SUR.
As an aspiring singer and actress, Lala has several high-profile projects lined up, including more collaborations with DJ James Kennedy. Lala recently spoke to The Daily Dish via email about her musical style, her cosmetic procedure preference, and what she's been up to since Season 4 of Vanderpump Rules wrapped.
You and James recently performed together in Vegas. What’s it like to be on stage with him?
Lala Kent: It's insane. To have a crowd that large singing your song, and you've never been on stage like that before? It's the best high in the world.
That Tupac bathing suit is definitely unforgettable. How did you pick it?
It was custom made by a company called Collard Greens. I figured we were in Vegas and I wanted a statement piece. What's a bigger statement than wearing a piece with the infamous Tupac's happy trail and "Thug Life" tattoo?
Why do you and James make for such a great musical duo?
He is so extremely talented and has a great ear. I bring soul to his house music and I think it works.
When can we expect more music from you two?
We are working on a couple songs right now. He is a perfectionist, so I just let him [work] until he is happy with the product.
Are you working on any solo music?
Yes, I am working on a R&B track which will be featuring an incredible rapper. Stay tuned!
What’s the next big project you’re working on that you’re excited for fans to hear or see?
I have a couple of movies that I have booked — one of which I will be a lead, both with A-list actors. I couldn't be more excited. It feels like I'm dreaming.
How would you define your style?
I like to keep it very simple, sexy, with a little bit of an urban twist. As long as I feel sexy, I'll wear it. I don't like feeling "cute." I like feeling like, "Damn that's sex on a stick," haha, if that makes any damn sense.
Anything you want to get done in terms of plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures?
I love Botox so I'll keep up on that, and I want my boobies redone. I want them natural looking, still. I have [had] saline since I was only 20. Now that I'm a little bit grown, I want silicone and I'd like them a tiny bit bigger.
What’s the one message you’d most like to share with your critics?
I love you. All of you. Nice or not.
