Leah McSweeney Rates Her First Season of The Real Housewives of New York City
"It's so much more intense than I ever could have imagined," Leah said.
So far, The Real Housewives of New York City newcomer Leah McSweeney has had an explosive first season. During the July 23 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show, she reflected on her first season as a RHONY cast member, which you can watch in the video above.
When asked if she is having fun in her first season, Leah responded with, “Yeah, totally!” which didn’t seem to convince guest Michelle Buteau, who then asked, “Are you?”
“I’m having fun watching it. It was a lot of work, and it was also fun doing it,” said Leah. “It’s so much more intense than I ever could have imagined.”
“I thought like, oh, well, we film it. And then it’s over. But it’s like, no. It's not. It airs, and you see all these feelings again, and maybe they’re 10 times even more, and you’re like, I wish I had said that! And just, the drama continues.”
Buteau also asked Leah how it feels to see herself drinking throughout the season.
“All things considered, I thought I looked pretty damn good for being that wasted. I was kind of impressed with myself in that regard,” said Leah. “Look, I had been very honest on the show, I had just started drinking recently. This is what Leah does when Leah gets drunk, that’s why Leah isn’t drinking anymore for a while now.”
Leah then noted that if she had not watched herself this season, she might not have made the decision to stop drinking again.
“Maybe had I not done RHONY, I would have kept drinking. The stakes are very high. It’s very public. I can see myself, I can self reflect. I have no shame about any of it. I want people to enjoy my drunken episodes, because they are hilarious. It’s not a dark, bad thing. It’s more like a decision I made,” she explained. “Drinking isn’t conducive to my lifestyle, and it’s very hard for me to just have two or three drinks. I like to get really turned up.”
