We Love This Moment of Melissa King and Shirley Chung on the Set of Top Chef Amateurs
It looks like the Top Chef friends had a blast together.
Melissa King just gave us a sneak peek at Top Chef Amateurs.
The Bravo's Top Chef Season 17 winner shared a heartwarming photo with Shirley Chung from Season 14 in a November 17 Instagram post taken on the set of Top Chef Amateurs. The duo was dressed up to the nines, serving up their best take on a prom pose.
“Shanghai Prom Nights with my beautiful @chfshirleychung on @bravotopchef Amateurs! (Thanks for letting me steal her Jimmy)” Melissa captioned the post. In the second slide, she included a movie poster for the film In the Mood for Love. “We also unintentionally channeled our favorite film ‘In the Mood For Love’ by Wong Kar Wai. If you know, you know. For those that haven’t heard of it, go watch it. It’s beautiful, poetic, and ugh just go watch it and check out some of Wong Car Wai’s other films like ChungKing Express, which I’m realizing now needs to be the name of our joint restaurant venture.”
Although Melissa is now part of the rotating judging and dining panel, she recently took a walk down memory lane to relive a very special moment from her Top Chef career. On November 20, she shared a sweet look at the day she was declared the winner in Tuscany, posting a photo with her mom as well as another snap of her reaction.
“A year ago I did a thing, and my mom was really proud,” she captioned the post. “And I held my face for a really long time. Where has the time gone?”
Longtime judge Gail Simmons commented on the nostalgic post, writing, “It made us all really proud! Hi mom!”
Speaking of Gail, she recently shared an update following her time filming Top Chef Amateurs. Alongside two photos with her son, she wrote, “Same boy, same shirt, different coasts. Missing those majestic Oregon trees, but after 2.5 months may for @bravotopchef and #topchefamateurs, over the moon to return home, soak up some unexpected November [sun] and dance in the streets with our fellow Brooklynites.”
Padma Lakshmi commented, “Kiss that cutie for auntie Padma!”
