Mia Thornton Officially with New Boyfriend Amid Gordon Thornton Separation
The RHOP cast member has been slowly sharing updates on her new relationship following her separation.
The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Mia Thornton is dating again following her separation from her husband, Gordon Thornton — and seems to be enjoying her newly single life.
“I’m having fun,” she said on November 4 during a panel at BravoCon 2023. “Gordon and I have been together for almost 15 years, and we’ve been married for 10, right? So, we’re separated. We’re legally separated, and I feel like I just want to have fun, right? I’m outside a little bit.”
In a December 10 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she explained that she actually has one new, special man in her life.
And, as she told Andy Cohen, she’s “committed” to this new “boo.”
Catch up on everything we currently know about Mia's new partner.
Does Mia Thornton have a boyfriend?
When “Potomac Takes Vegas” moderator Rachel Lindsay tried to get the details about a potential new man in Mia's life at BravoCon in November 2023, Mia played coy, only saying there “may be” someone "special."
“There’s a promise,” she added.
Mia let a little more slip about her newfound dating life later in the session when Ashley asked the Housewives what they did to relax after a particularly difficult day of shooting.
“I call the special man in my life, that’s what I would say,” Mia replied.
When the ‘Wives tried to nail down what exactly she meant by that, Mia clarified her earlier comments.
“What I said is, I was in the streets. There’s not a particular one, but I will call someone,” she said. “That’s what I do.”
Mia, however, confirmed that "someone" is special on December 10 on WWHL, calling herself “committed” to the man in question.
“New boo says no, I’m all his and that’s it," she said. "I’m locked up.”
Who is Mia Thornton's new man?
Mia didn't name her new love interest on WWHL, but she did drop several hints about his identity.
First, she said he is an Atlanta-based “public figure” in the world of radio.
“He is in entertainment, yes,” she said, adding he is someone “you can Google.”
Second, she said he is someone she dated before she worked as an exotic dancer.
“Did he ever see you dance?” a curious Andy probed.
“No. Absolutely not,” Mia replied. “We weren’t together during that time.”
Third, she said her long-time best friend, Jacqueline Blake, has a connection to her new man.
“She’s also the best friend of my new boo,” she said of Jacqueline, adding the two knew each other because Mia's new partner is “a guy from my past.”
Fourth, she said her new boyfriend had remained enough involved in her life in the years since they first dated that he also knew her ex, Gordon, while the two were married — but that the "new boo" wasn't involved in the former couple's unconventional intimate lives.
Then, New Year’s Eve 2023, Mia launched her relationship on Instagram with a photo of her wrapping her legs around her new beau in front of a car. His face was not shown in the image.
"4.4.4. #2024," Mia wrote in the caption, a reference to the "angel number" 444, and adding a white heart emoji. "Let’s Go!"
While Mia is wearing a diamond ring in the photo, the RHOP cast member is not engaged … yet.
She previously clarified the meaning of the ring after wearing it at BravoCon 2023.
"I am not engaged; I am committed, yes," Mia said.
Her Instagram bio noted as of January 2024 that she is "almost” a fiancée.
What does Gordon Thornton think of Mia Thornton's new boyfriend?
“I’m still legally married, but Gordon does give us his blessing," Mia told Andy during her December WWHL appearance.
“You know I love G and I want what’s best for him and he’s been a phenomenal man and I do feel like a lot of my success I do owe to him,” she added. “You know, it’s just feelings get in the way, but G’s not a terrible guy. But he is very happy and he does also hang out with my new beau.”
Mia explained that the former couple were “coparenting very well” and the “kids are great” despite the family shake up.
“We are communicating well, contrary to public belief,” she said of her interactions with Gordon.
To ease the transition for their children — son Jeremiah and daughter Juliana — Mia said she and Gordon decided the children would stay in the same home and the adults would each have their own place and then rotate in and out to coparent.
“The kids don’t have to move around,” she said.
When did Mia and Gordon Thornton separate?
Mia formally announced her separation from Gordon on Sept. 29.
"Like all marriages, ours has had its ups and downs," Mia told People in a statement. "At this time, Gordon and I are separated, but my family is my number one priority, and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure we are okay."
She added that the pair are trying to "figure things out."
