Nene Leakes Reflects on the Closet Incident from Last Season of RHOA

The Real Housewives of Atlanta entrepreneur clarifies the dramatic Bye Wig party moment.

Nene Leakes was at the center of some of the biggest drama last season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta when chaos broke out after Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams entered her closet at her Bye Wig party.

While looking back on the moment during a recent interview with Essence, Nene admitted, “I pulled the camera guy’s shirt.”

But she also confirmed that there's no drama here. “[The cameraman] loves me. My producer said he loves me. The same producers are in my house every single season,” Nene said. “It’s not personal at all.”

Nene explained why she didn't want Kandi and Porsha to go into her closet during The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 11 After Show, above. "Porsha and Kandi had never been in my closet, and I wanted them to see my closet when it was like in the magazine or on social media. I wanted them to see it for the first time very nice. So I said, 'Don't go in my closet,' and Kandi proceeded to go in my closet. Now, see, what you're not gonna do is disrespect the Leakes house," she said. "We already had a problem with the f--king roach situation last year. Last thing I need is for your ass to bring your ass over here and start thinking you're gonna just do whatever you want to do in my house. Like, that's not gonna work."

She also defended her behavior at the Bye Wig party during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in March. "How are you gonna overreact in your own home? If I tell you to visit me and sit right here, you need to sit right here. You don't have the right to go through my house and open up my doors, my closets, my pantries, none of that," she explained. "And the one thing these girls have, they are disrespecting each other's homes when they visit them. Shereé [Whitfield]'s house was disrespected, Kenya [Moore]'s house was disrespected. When you come to my house, you're not going to disrespect my home. So they were not in the right. First of all, they weren't even invited upstairs; they just came upstairs on their own."

Nene opened up more about the moment during the RHOA Season 11 reunion, sharing that she did not regret putting her hands on anyone during the night. However, there was one aspect of the incident she wishes had gone differently. "The one thing I hated the most when I watched it was all the cursing," she said.
