Nene Leakes Confirms Gregg Leakes' Cancer Has Returned
Nene Leakes shared an update on husband Gregg's battle with colon cancer.
Nene Leakes has confirmed that husband Gregg Leakes' cancer has returned. The update comes three years after it was first shared that he was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer.
"He's been in the hospital for a week, tomorrow," Nene shared on Monday (June 28) during an Instagram Live with The Jasmine Brand (via PEOPLE). She noted that this is the first time she has shared this update on her husband's health. "I'm sure he'll be home in about a week or so," Nene continued. "He had to have a surgery."
Nene went on to say that "it's difficult," adding, "He's super small. If you've ever been around somebody who's had cancer before, he's different. He's different."
Since confirming his cancer diagnosis in June 2018, Nene and Gregg have been open about his journey. In September 2019, he appeared on The Wendy Williams Show with Nene and confirmed that, at that time, he was cancer free.
During her conversation with The Jasmine Brand this week, Nene told fans that in the wake of the fact that "his cancer did return," elsewhere in the conversation, she added, “I’d love for everybody to pray for Gregg, that would be beautiful. Pray for his strength,” Nene said (via Page Six). “And pray for me too.”
On Tuesday (June 29), Nene took to Instagram to share another update on Gregg: "Hey guys....I was really caught off guard in that interview when asked about Gregg! He’s a private person so i hadn’t said anything publicly (his wishes) (Only our circle really know details) and really sometimes it’s best that way because people just read into it whatever they want too and family, whew Chileeeeee i just can’t. Gregg told me this morning he had 80 text messages and wanted to know what was wrong wit his phone. Thank you for your many prayers text messages and calls. PS: Gregg says to me, keep smiling."
Previously, in an interview with The Daily Dish in November 2018, Nene shared how she has shown support for her husband throughout his cancer battle. "I always tell him whatever decision you make, I'm going to support it because this is his life and it's such a big deal," she said at the time. "I don't want to tell him to do something and then I'm wrong and it ends up not helping. So I want him to make his own decision and I support it. So, he's made all of his decisions himself and I'm just there to support him."
