Patti Stanger's Tips for a Romantic Valentine's Day
She even has ideas for singles on how to have a memorable holiday.
Whether or not you have a Valentine, the Millionaire Matchmaker herself is offering up her best tips to help you celebrate this February 14. In an interview with New Jersey Monthly, Patti Stanger talks the best and worst Valentine's Day gifts and how to celebrate if you're single.
Men need to buy women flowers.
"Flowers go a long way, but the statistic shows that women buy flowers, not men," explained Patti, who warned men to prepare ahead of time. "Men are last-minute thinkers, and you have to plan with flowers."
Red Roses Are Always a 'Do.'
When asked if red roses had become cliche, Patti replied emphatically, "No! Red roses are iconic. Would a diamond go out of style? I don't think so. Red roses say passion. Women are never going to lose interest in roses...A rose is a girl's best friend"
Stuffed Animals Are Always a 'Don't.'
As tempting as it is to grab a teddy bear clutching a box of chocolates while checking out at CVS, Patti has "always thought stuffed animals were the weirdest thing to give."
Plan, plan, plan.
"I think a girl is shocked when a man says, 'Put your best cocktail dress on, I’m going to pick you up at seven, don't ask questions,'" said Patti, reminding men, "It’s her day really, not the guy’s day."
You can still have an awesome Valentine's Day if you're single.
No sweetheart? No problem. "Throw an Opposite Sex Party," said Patti, "...everyone brings someone of the opposite sex that they aren’t interested in romantically and sees as a potential candidate for someone else."
