We Have an Update on Cynthia Bailey and Kenya Moore's Friendship Following RHUGT
The RHOA ladies reflect on their tension during The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip getaway to Turks and Caicos.
When the Real Housewives from across the franchise landed in Turks and Caicos for The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, there were plenty of good times had by the group — but there was also drama. While the skies may have been sunny, there were definitely moments where things were shady for the ladies.
And one of the more tense turns that took place in the group's dynamic was between longtime friends Cynthia Bailey and Kenya Moore from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Their issues were definitely palpable as they navigated that tension between them, and they reflected on that shift in their friendship during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, along with the rest of the RHUGT cast, back in November.
"For me, you know, Kenya was the only one I was the most emotionally connected to 'cause she's a really close friend of mine," Cynthia shared during a virtual Clubhouse appearance late last year. "So I will say, after the trip, for me, the dynamic of the friendship changed for me. Now, we have had conversations off-camera, and I appreciate that. I'm fine with where we are now, but the dynamic of the friendship definitely has changed."
When Kenya was asked if she agreed with that assessment during the same WWHL appearance, she noted, "Yeah, I think so. I think we just had to have a lot of conversations to be able to understand each other a lot better... I think that we got somewhere, and I'm really happy with where I think our friendship will go from here."
It's been several months since that WWHL appearance, and when Cynthia sat down with Andy Cohen more recently on March 2, she shared an update on where she stands with Kenya today. "We are not like we were before the Girls Trip," she said, reflecting on their issues during the Peacock original series, which is currently encoring on Bravo.
She continued, "Again, I will always have love in my heart for Kenya. Relationships, friendships go up and down, and it's really tough. I've learned to maintain healthy relationships when you work together on a platform like this. So I love Kenya. I will always have love for her, but we are not where we used to be."
Cynthia then added, "We did talk on the phone. We did have a conversation on the phone, a very lengthy conversation, and it was very good."
She went on to say that while things aren't the same between her and Kenya, "I'm so happy for her. I think she did amazing on Dancing with the Stars. I was cheering for her. [Her daughter] Brooklyn is incredible. She is so beautiful. I'm good, and I love her."
During that March WWHL episode, Cynthia opened up a bit more about her relationship with Kenya in the clip, below.
That wasn't the only RHUGT-related topic that Cynthia opened up about in the Clubhouse during her recent appearance. Andy Cohen noted that "it seemed like a rough ride" for her during that getaway, and Cynthia reflected upon that on WWHL.
"I did 11 years on the regular seasons [of RHOA], and I will say the Ultimate Girls Trip was a little rough for me," she said. "It started off great. I always go into every situation with great intentions. I think after the Bailey-Q, the energy just kind of changed and I wasn't able to, like, fix it. And it was what it was, but [it] still was a great experience for me. I love all those ladies, and it is what it is."
Kenya, for her part, has been reflecting on the RHUGT experience since it first dropped on Peacock late last year on Instagram, sharing memories and insights from the trip to her feed over the last few months. "Doing this show was so much fun!!!" she wrote in one post about the experience of traveling with "your favorite ALL STARS." In a separate Instagram post, Kenya noted that the series is "everything!!!," later adding, "My girls light up the screen on RHUGT!"
"Just love all these Queens!!!" she also shared about filming with the cast, which, in addition to Kenya and Cynthia also included The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice, The Real Housewives of New York City's Luann de Lesseps and Ramona Singer, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Kyle Richards.
All episodes of RHUGT are streaming now on Peacock. You can also catch an encore of the episodes on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c.
