Garcelle Beauvais has stayed booked and busy this year, but before 2022 comes to a close, she has one last career update to add to her highlight reel. “What a Way to finish the year!!” Garcelle began the caption of her December 13 Instagram post, adding, “This is a special show.”

The RHOBH cast member, who will appear on the show alongside actors Sinclair Daniel and Ashleigh Murray, went on to share a synopsis of the series, which is based on writer Zakiya Dalila Harris’ New York Times best-selling novel of the same name.

“It follows Nella (Daniel), an editorial assistant who is tired of being the only Black girl at her company. She’s excited when Hazel (Murray) is hired, but as Hazel’s star begins to rise, Nella spirals out and discovers something sinister is going on at the company,” Garcelle added, also tagging fellow actors Bellamy Young, Eric McCormack, and executive producer Rashida Jones.

According to Deadline, Garcelle will recur as “world renowned author” Diana Gordon, who was best friends with the publishing company’s former Black editor, Kendra Rae Phillips. “They lived in the same neighborhood and remained besties all throughout college, and Kendra Rae even edited the book that launched her into stardom,” the description continues. “Since the book came out, the pair have grown apart.”

Of course, several of Garcelle’s fellow Bravolebs were quick to send their congratulations in the comments section of her Instagram post. They included her RHOBH castmates Dorit Kemsley and
Crystal Kung Minkoff, as well as The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Karen HugerThe Real Housewives of New York City’s Eboni K. Williams, and The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Gretchen Rossi.

In addition to other celebrities, including Debra Messing, Sherri Shepherd, and Adrienne Bailon, even the book’s author hopped into the comments. “Hooray!!! *still* pinching myself over this,” Harris wrote, adding a crying-face emoji. “SO excited!!!”

As fans may recall, Garcelle was noticeably absent from the 2022 People’s Choice Awards on December 6, despite scoring an individual nod in addition to RHOBH’s nomination. In an Instagram video the same day, the ’Wife explained that she was unable to attend with her fellow cast members because she was “working.”

Though Garcelle didn’t specify exactly what she was working on, she previously announced in October that she landed a role on Survival of the Thickest, a new comedy series that also features FBI’s Anissa Felix, Pose’s Peppermint, P-Valley’s Taylor Selé, and I May Destroy You’s Marouane Zotti.

Thanks to the RHOBH cast member’s latest announcement, however, we now know that her work on The Other Black Girl, which began production in October, very well could have been the real reason she missed the PCAs.
