Alexia Echevarria Gives an Update on Her Son Frankie
The Real Housewives of Miami cast member shares what her son is up to these days.
Alexia Echevarria has let fans in on every aspect of her life today during the current season of The Real Housewives of Miami, which is streaming on Peacock. She's in the midst of trying to figure out wedding plans with Todd Nepola, while also balancing the dynamics — and sometimes drama — that come with blending families.
This season has also given viewers the chance to catch up with her all-grown-up son, Frankie, more than a decade after he was in a car accident back in 2011 that left him with a brain injury.
During Season 4 of RHOM, Alexia and her family are adjusting to life as a unit with her then-fiancé and his kids. And she was asked during the January 25 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen if she thinks that Todd, whom she wed in December, "has a better understanding" of the situation with Frankie now that he's a member of the family.
"Absolutely. I feel like Todd's been in our family for five years already, and until, like, you're in it and you see what we go through on a day-to-day basis [you might not understand]," she said. "And only a mother who's been in a situation like that can really relate to something like that; it's like your whole family falls apart."
Elsewhere on WWHL, Alexia was asked by a fan about a particularly emotional and tense family conversation this season and wanted to know if she has "taken Todd's advice and gotten Frankie help and family therapy?" "What we did get [from that moment] was, like, this should be about Frankie," she said. "This is all about Frankie. And we acted on it right away, and we have gotten help, like, as a family, just between us. It was really hard to watch, as I said, it's been many months, so obviously we're in a good place, we moved forward from that. But the important thing is that Frankie is everything to us. He's our life, and we got what we needed to get and we're still working."
These days, Frankie works with his mom at Alexia + Frankie's Beauty Bar. In a 2020 Instagram post, to celebrate Frankie's birthday, Alexia opened up about her son's journey.
"You are my strength and my angel! God has been so good to me. He gave you as my son two times. You have taught me that no matter what, we all can find new ways to live our life and be happy with it. You have made me a better person. Every single day since you were born, you’ve added something amazing to my life. You are a miracle by God. You are a gift to us from Heaven above. You are a reminder that life is fragile and we shouldn’t worry so much about the small stuff," she wrote. "You always have a smile to share, love to give, and something sweet to say. With you life is so much fun!! Happy Birthday my beautiful son ... continue to spread love and laughter and the gift of happiness. I love you."
New episodes of RHOM are available on Thursdays exclusively on Peacock, where fans can also catch up on Seasons 1 through 3.
