Guerdy Abraira Was “Actually Shocked” by Someone Special During Season 4 of RHOM
The RHOM newbie spilled ALL the tea on her rookie season as a Real Housewife, her fellow cast members, and her husband.
The Real Housewives of Miami’s Guerdy Abraira was “actually shocked” by one person when it came time to share her life on Season 4 — and that person, it turns out, wasn’t one of the Miami Housewives. Her husband, Russell, was so incredibly comfortable in front of the camera, and she just wasn’t expecting it.
“I was actually shocked at how natural Russell was. It was kind of like, ‘Wow, you’re actually really good on camera,” she told The Daily Dish of her husband’s appearances on Peacock’s RHOM, which is currently encoring on Bravo. “Now, all of a sudden, he’s a heartthrob and, you know, it’s like people are text[ing], saying to me, ‘When is he going to come out with a firefighter calendar?’ I was like, ‘Probably never.’ He should, but he probably wouldn’t. You know, he’s so humble.” (Russell, FYI, is a firefighter.)

Guerdy and Russell, who have been together for more than two decades and were high school sweethearts, are parents to two sons, and for Guerdy, life is all about making time for her family, as well as her bustling events company.
Guerdy also finds ways to honor her heritage. Born in Haiti, Guerdy has been open about her life before cameras started rolling on it, including the losses she’s suffered, such as the passing of her brother and his daughters in the 2010 earthquake. That tragedy served as the inspiration for a charity event she threw during Season 4. “Well, mine, darling, of course [is my favorite party this season]. My fundraiser,” she said. She noted that when putting the event together she was “really trying to make my family, my country proud, and trying to juggle all these pieces to the puzzle to create a seamless, amazing affair.”
Of course, as Season 4 was filming, Guerdy was also helping to plan Alexia Echevarria’s wedding, which was ultimately postponed (she and Todd Nepola later eloped after the season).
“I wanted that for them internally, to be honest, quietly,” Guerdy said. “When she kept just mentioning, ‘You know what, Todd would just get married tomorrow. He wants to just go elope.’ And I kind of was like ‘Maybe that’s the best thing for you guys.’ But, you know, she’s a bride. She wants to get married for the third time. [She’s like] ‘It’s going to be fabulous” and ‘That’s going to be the wedding of my dreams,’” Guerdy reflected. “So, as a ride or die, you know, I got to ride or die. So I was, like, kind of like whatever you want, you like it, I love it. So we did it, or tried to, and then here we are today. They’re already hitched and living the life. So mazel tov to them.”
(You can hear more about Alexia’s wedding in the Bravo Insider Housewife to Housewife episode below.)
Regardless, Guerdy, who is a renowned event planner, noted, “I was born to plan weddings, my darling, absolutely, yes. It’s what I do.”
And while Guerdy had been helping Alexia plan her wedding during Season 4, don’t expect her to plan the upcoming wedding of Dr. Nicole Martin, who became engaged after the season wrapped. “I’ve always been able to conduct business set in separation from friendship, but it may not work the other way around. So you got to listen to the message and the hints here and there. So I’m not rushing to plan [Nicole’s] wedding, because I would rather just support her emotionally in whatever way I can, and maybe I’ll go to tasting and dress shopping, but I don’t know if I need to be the leader of the pack in that sense. So, ideally, I would love to watch her get married as a friend... Whatever she needs from me, I will be there to support her in any capacity.”
So, does Nicole feel the same way? “I think Guerdy is an incredible wedding planner, event planner. I personally, though, don’t like to mix business,” she said. “I value Guerdy’s friendship far too much than to get into an argument over flowers or napkin colors or something silly. So I like to keep my friends and business far apart.”
One more thing on the subject of parties. As it turns out, Guerdy thinks someone in the cast does a great job putting together a bash. “Lisa [Hochstein] throws amazing parties. They’re completely different from the parties I throw, naturally, because mine are paid parties for weddings and social gatherings. But, honey, Lisa will throw a party because it’s sunny outside, OK, and I will be right there celebrating with her. She’s everything,” she said with a laugh. “She loves life, like me. We see each other. Lisa and I are very similar in the sense of, like, our zest to live and just be happy. You know, we seek it. We seek happiness intentionally, and that’s amazing.”
Seasons 1 through 4 of RHOM are streaming now on Peacock. You can also catch RHOM Season 4 as it encores on Bravo on Tuesdays at 9:30/8:30c.
