Rosie Pope’s Vacation Motto for New Moms

Take your two weeks!

By Lauren Metz

Rosie Pope

Rosie Pope is giving mamas-to-be her two week notice. "I tell everybody to give themselves two weeks where they don’t do a single thing except be with their baby. If you don’t shower or put on real clothes for two weeks, it’s okay," the mommy concierge shares with HLNTV.com.

Smart advice for the heavily sleep deprived crowd. "Those first two weeks will be very difficult -- you need it, your baby needs it -- so don’t stress and just get to know your baby," the mom of three continues. "And my clients find that after those 14 days, the clouds lift and it’s like ‘Ahh! I can go outside with my baby and I can wash my hair!’"

Another trick to Rosie’s new mom trade is prioritizing nap time. "Newborn babies sleep about 18 hours a day -- maybe not all at the same time, but they’re never awake for more than two hours. So when you think, 'I can’t make it. I'm about to pass out,' I say anyone can make it through two hours! After that, the baby will fall asleep and so can you. When moms say, ‘But I need to do laundry and clean the house’ -- no, no, no! If your baby is sleeping, you’re sleeping."
