Scheana Shay Defends Her Role in Raquel Leviss and Tom Schwartz’s Hookup
The Vanderpump Rules cast member also shared where she and Katie Maloney stand today.
For Scheana Shay, Vanderpump Rules’ on-screen drama is just as hurtful off-screen.
As she recently told ET, “It’s hard to watch back and see the interview bites and see what people say about you.”
Scheana was particularly upset with a comment made by Katie Maloney, explaining, “Anyone who says that karma’s gonna come and I’ll watch your world burn and smile? I’m sorry, that’s an evil thing to say.”
For context, Katie was venting to Lala Kent after Scheana had encouraged her ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, to hook up with Raquel Leviss. Still, Scheana found the remark “just so vile and so hurtful.”
The drama is far from over, though — in fact, the discussion about Scheana’s involvement in Tom and Raquel’s still-to-come make-out session continues to ramp up. The most recent discourse came after Scheana appeared on the February 17 episode of Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast and claimed that Katie had initially given Raquel and Tom her “blessing.”
“There was a conversation that happened between Katie and I … and Katie said, ‘I think they would make a good couple,’ or ‘They might be a good match,’ or something along those lines,” Scheana alleged. “So I took that and ran with it, and I told Raquel, ‘Katie kind of gives you her blessing if you want to pursue that.’”
Katie, however, argued that she “had 17 drinks before this ‘conversation,’” as she commented on a fan account’s post, which featured a video of Scheana’s aforementioned comments. “I was making light of rumors and being like sure ya girl whatever… talk to me when [I’m] sober. But I guess she got what she wanted.”
Katie also went on to share (since-deleted) screenshots of texts between her and Scheana further discussing the matter. “Back in May.. after we spoke in Vegas.. I told Scheana I wasn’t down for this s--t,” Katie captioned the first screen grab, “so keep going with this diabolical nonsense.”
Acknowledging the texts in the new ET interview, Scheana said, “I think it was still pretty clear that I was trying to do the right thing. I don’t think these receipts made it look like I was a bad person with bad intentions. I’m like, you’re kind of just posting my point and proving that?”
She then doubled down on her assertion that Katie “wanted” Tom to “move on.” Later, when Scheana’s involvement became a problem, she said she backed off.
“I realize I am messy, but I’m not intentionally messy, and that is what’s frustrating, is people who have known me for so long — Katie is one of them … how do you not know my intentions were good?” Scheana said, explaining that she was “just trying to hype up” Tom, “who was down in that moment and I was like, ‘No, this is what Katie said. She’s moved on. She wants you to move on.’”
“My delivery was a little messy, but it wasn’t intentionally to hurt him or her,” Scheana continued. “These are two of my friends going through a divorce. I had offered to be there for Katie. I very rarely would get a response from her and I’ve just accepted that’s who she is, but I’m like, I can’t be there for you if you’re not telling me what you need, and if you don’t even respond to me, whereas Schwartz was down in the dumps, like, he needed a pick-me-up.”
As for where she and Katie currently stand? “She literally looks through me now and makes it impossible,” Scheana said. “I would hope that we could just be at a cordial, surface-level place.”
