The Real Housewives of New York City fans will recall that Sonja Morgan has wanted to launch a toaster oven for years. So when RHONY alum Bethenny Frankel recently shared on Instagram that she was developing a toaster oven herself, one Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen fan wanted to know if Sonja felt that Bethenny's idea was a "cheater brand," referencing their drama involving the Tipsy Girl liquor brand that unfolded on RHONY several seasons back.

How to Watch

"Listen, things get very complicated. When the show was airing, she was being fed a lot of BS from Ramona [Singer] and Dorinda [Medley], just to put that out there," Sonja recalled on the June 29 episode of WWHL as fellow guest Leah McSweeney sipped her drink. "What's important is that Bethenny and I got through that, we discussed it, and she didn't know I was an owner."

When Andy Cohen asked again if Sonja thinks it's a "cheater brand," she said, "I don't think so. I think there's plenty of room for her to do toasters, for me to do toasters when it is right for me."

It's been a while since we got an update from Sonja on what's next for her toaster oven idea, but as she noted on WWHL, it would still be something she'd consider when the time is right.

Back in 2016, when speaking to Forbes, Sonja shed more light on why she hadn't launched her toaster oven line yet. "Oh yeah, it’s always been in the works," she said. "I clearly have a prototype made, which you saw on the show. What was initially started with Heather [Thomson] on the show was getting a brand ID and a logo."

She added in her interview with Forbes at that time that a professor from Sonja's alma mater, the Fashion Institute of Technology, advised her to first come out with something that spoke more to her fashion lifestyle brand. "He said I should start with a fashion brand because I am fashion and start with an international lifestyle brand because I have homes all over the world and I’m a jetsetter and attend events all over the world and you have an international group of friends and clientele," Sonja explained. "So when he did the brand ID, it made a lot of sense not to come out with the toaster first."

As we all know, Sonja has launched fashion lines, Sonja Morgan New York as well as Sonja by Sonja Morgan.
