Behind-the-Scenes at the Southern Charm Season 9 Reunion
The Glam and Preparation Process
The Charm-ers' dressing rooms were abuzz from the early morning hours even though filming wasn't scheduled to start until 11 a.m. Several cast members told BravoTV.com that they had head-to-toe visions for their reunion looks — from Madison channeling Marilyn Monroe to Shep aiming for a "mountain chic" vibe — and on hand to help them achieve these visions were their respective hair and makeup teams.
Setting the Stage
Things were equally busy on stage as the crew worked to finalize the set, test lighting, and more. Stand-ins for each cast member eventually arrived as well, and they sat on the reunion couches doing test shots for a while.
First Arrivals and Impressions
Shep was the first to hit the stage, and much to his surprise, the set was modeled after his family's mountain home in the Appalachians in North Carolina (which was featured on Southern Charm Season 9). Suffice it to say, he was impressed. As he put it, "This is sleek!"
Once Andy arrived, he happily greeted the entire cast as they began to gradually take the stage: "Hey Charm-ers! Wow, what a beautiful set."
He also made sure to show off his impressively thick stack of cards.
Lastly, before the cameras began rolling at 11 a.m., JT took a dramatic, deep breath.
Andy Cohen's Unaired Commentary
The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen emcee breezed through his questions throughout the day, although he did pause after one in particular because of its bluntness: "Will Taylor and Olivia ever be friends again?"
Conversations In-Between Takes
The group chatted amongst themselves and with Andy in between takes. The latter conversations mostly centered on what the cast's plans were for the evening once filming wrapped — that, and what time lunch was scheduled for. (The answer? 2 p.m.)
A Southern Charm Reunion First
When it came time to break for lunch, Andy patted the Charm-ers on the back for achieving something they'd "never done" before: gotten through multiple hours of filming without taking a break or anyone storming off set.
Lunch Break
The group headed back to their respective dressing rooms for lunch, though a few cast members — like Craig and Austen — regrouped once they had their food.
A little over an hour later, people began to trickle back onto the reunion stage. Some were on the receiving end of hair and makeup touches, while others posed for the reunion portraits (which you can check out here).
By 3:30 p.m., everyone was back in their respective spot on the reunion couches — and this time, they were joined by Rod and Rodrigo.
Final Takeaways
Things picked back up rather quickly, with the only unplanned break in filming coming around 4:40 p.m. when Andy paused to fix one of Shep's loose hairs.
The rest of the day saw JT elicit a few laughs from the crew; Madison and Venita come back from a break without their shoes on; and, as fans watched on the actual reunion, Shep's phone going off mid-filming.
Production ultimately wrapped at 6 p.m. sharp, as planned.
