What Is Below Deck Mediterranean's Storm Smith Doing These Days?
Here's what Season 7's favorite lead deckhand (and provisional bosun, and bosun) has been up to.
During his one-season run on Below Deck Mediterranean, Storm Smith found his way into many roles — and many hearts. During the charter season, the hardworking yachtie was first employed as Lead Deckhand. After his coworker Raygan Tyler was fired in Episode 5, he was promoted to Provisional Bosun before eventually landing the role of Bosun in Episode 9.
“For as long as I’ve known Storm, he’s always liked to take charge,” Mzi Dempers, a longtime friend-turned-coworker of the South Africa native, said during Season 7 Episode 4. “He has a big work ethic and is a perfectionist at times. Naturally, if no one is taking [the lead] position he’ll step up.”
According to his BravoTV.com bio, Storm spent most of his time outdoors at the beach growing up, either surfing or fishing. It was here the self-described "modern day pirate" fell in love with boats.

Who is Storm Smith?
Born and raised in South Africa, Storm has spent his career on the water, working on boats up to 240 feet as deck crew and a surfing guide.
After one season on Below Deck Mediterranean, he continued his seafaring lifestyle — albeit without TV cameras present.
What happened to Storm Smith on Below Deck Mediterranean?
Storm appeared on Below Deck Mediterranean during Season 7, which featured plenty of shake-ups in the deck crew department.
"It's been a dream of mine to become a bosun," he revealed after being promoted from lead deckhand to provisional bosun in Episode 5. After proving he had what it takes to perform the role, he was promoted to bosun in Episode 9.
During his time on the show, Storm also had a boatmance with crewmate Natalya Scudder.
Where does Storm Smith work now?
Today, Storm is still working in yachting. In his Instagram bio, he refers to himself as a "sailor."
"All my life, always in the water. A love story that will last until the end of my days," he captioned an August 2023 Instagram post.
According to Storm, his work ethic and passion came from his mom.
"She's had to be fierce because of her life," shared Storm in Season 7, Episode 3. "I just remember like, my mom being so tired. She'd work a full 8-to-6 job. And then when my first sister was born — I was 14 or 15 — the only way my sister could sleep was if we drove her around in the car. But my mum would be so wrecked that I would have to drive her, which is not legal at all."
"But like, I just tap into this work mode," he added. "Once I hit it, I go."
Who is Storm Smith dating?
During Season 7 of Below Deck Med, Storm struck up a boatmance with Natalya Scudder. While they didn’t keep things going after the charter season, Storm shared during the reunion that Natalya “provided me an escape to all the difficulties and pressure and the anxiety I had for the season, and for that I was very, very grateful.”
Natalya shared a similar sentiment.
“I think if we worked on a yacht together still, I think we would have a relationship, but he was going back to, I think, South Africa; I was going back to Australia," she said. "And for me in my head, I kind of already made a decision it most likely wasn’t going to work due to the time and places we were going to be.”
Ultimately, she’s happy for Storm.
“Where we stand today, Storm’s got a new partner and she’s gorgeous,” she said.
After the show ended, Storm began dating superyacht chief stew Chloe Griffin. Neither has revealed if they're still together.
Where does Storm Smith live now?
While Storm still calls South Africa home, he's most definitely a world traveler.
In just the summer of 2023, his journeys brought him to Sri Lanka, Florida, New Zealand, Iceland, France, Greece, Monaco, and Croatia, according to his Instagram.
