Mya Allen came into the Summer House fresh off of breaking off her engagement with her longtime boyfriend. And in the January 24 episode, we learned a little bit more about Mya's former fiancé and what led to the couple's split.

How to Watch

Watch Summer House on Bravo Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

While getting to know her Summer House-mates during a day out at a brewery, Mya shared that she ended her engagement about six months before the start of Season 6. "I think there was no denying that we weren't in a good space," she explained to Kyle Cooke, Carl Radke, Lindsay Hubbard, and Danielle Olivera. "For me, it was like, I can't do this cycle anymore. We were having the same fights."

It was then revealed that Mya's ex-fiancé is Kwame Onwuachi, who appeared in Season 13 of Bravo's Top Chef before returning as an All Star judge in Season 18 and the upcoming Season 19. "I met my ex-fiancé just shy of 23. I lived six years of life in the shadow of my ex," Mya shared in an interview during the episode. "He was very popular, very successful, and I would find myself being identified on his behalf. I was his fiancé or I worked with him. And for my ego, that f--king sucked."

Of course, Mya has her own successful culinary career as a restaurant consultant and her own cookie business. And after a couple of years of making her way in New York City, Mya was more than ready to see what the Hamptons had to offer this season of Summer House. "I moved to New York about two years ago with my ex. That relationship didn't work out, but my relationship with New York is still very strong," she shared in an interview in the Season 6 premiere. "And when Paige [DeSorbo] invited me to join her share house, I was like, f--k yeah, what else could be better than this?"

Now Mya "is taking her time to find her next man and wants to have fun and let loose," according to her bio on BravoTV.com, a challenge she also posed to her new friends. "I just came out of a five-year engagement," Mya told the Summer House crew during their first dinner out. "Which means I expect all of you to give me the best summer ever."
