Top Chef Family Style Kicks Off with a "Dynamic" Challenge
Meet the families vying for the $50,000 grand prize in this preview of Peacock's new culinary competition.
Peacock is serving up a new kind of culinary competition with the premiere of Top Chef Family Style streaming starting September 9, and Bravo Insider has your first look.
The above sneak peek shows the 15 young chef competitors and their adult family members entering the Top Chef Family Style kitchen for the first time, and we must warn you that it is going to give you all the feels — in the best way possible, of course. One culinary prodigy even has to try her best "not to fangirl" over one of her fellow contestants.
Soon enough, the pairs meet Meghan Trainor and Marcus Samuelsson, who will serve as host and Head Judge of the new series, respectively. "You guys are amazing, but is your team strong enough to take home the $50,000 and be crowned the champion this season?" Meghan tells the excited crop of contestants.
The Grammy Award winner, along with the acclaimed chef, James Beard Award winner, best-selling cookbook author, and Top Chef Masters alum waste no time in introducing the very first Quickfire Challenge of the season, which is just as "dynamic" as the duos standing in front of them. Donning their new chef jackets, the families get to work preparing dishes that they hope will impress.
In addition to the grand prize of $50,000 furnished by Capital One, the Top Chef Family Style teams will compete for the chance to win various other prizes this season, including $10,000 provided by Hellmann’s, another $10,000 sponsored by State Farm, a trip and tickets to an NFL Sunday Night Football game, tickets to WWE’s Wrestlemania, a trip to Universal Orlando Resort’s three theme parks, and a visit to the Food & Wine Test Kitchen.
Members of the Top Chef family will also make special appearances, including host Padma Lakshmi and Head Judge Tom Colicchio, as well as alums Kwame Onwuachi, Shirley Chung, Nyesha Arrington, Brian Malarkey, Amar Santana, Chris Cosentino, Kelsey Barnard Clark, Sheldon Simeon, Mei Lin, Richard Blais, Melissa King, Brooke Williamson, Gregory Gourdet, Nina Compton, Stephanie Izard, and Shota Nakajima. Special guests and guest judges from across the culinary, sports, and entertainment worlds will also stop by on the series.
The first two episodes of Top Chef Family Style will be streaming on Peacock beginning September 9 and then drop weekly on Thursdays.
