Ubah Hassan "Absolutely" Could Not Defend One Thing Jessel Taank Did on RHONY
Ubah Hassan appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to discuss everything from cackling hags to "up-and-coming" Tribeca.
The Real Housewives of New York City’s Ubah Hassan has weighed in on some of Jessel Taank’s buzziest and most controversial moments as RHONY Season 14 continues.
Ubah joined British comedian and author London Hughes for the September 10, 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen for a fun game of “Can! You! Defend! Jessel?!” Covering everything from Jessel’s Christmas Tree lingerie gift from Jenna Lyons to calling Erin Lichy’s Tribeca neighborhood “up-and-coming,” Cohen left nothing off the table when asking the New York Housewife what was forgivable and what wasn’t.
Ubah says some of Jessel’s RHONY moments were justified
The WWHL host began by asking Ubah and Hughes about Jessel’s surprising reaction to the ill-fitted lingerie gifted to Jessel while the women were at Erin’s Hamptons home for an off-season getaway. Ubah defended Jessel’s response, while Hughes contended, “She did look like a Christmas tree.”

Next came Jessel’s referring to Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood as “up-and-coming,” which didn’t land well with Erin while the pair were at a tense coffee meet-up. Ubah said she agreed with Jessel because “it kinda is,” citing a lack of restaurants in the upscale neighborhood — a comment that visibly puzzled Andy.
“It’s boring,” Ubah maintained. “By six o’clock, nothing is happening.”
Later in the WWHL episode, Andy asked if Jessel’s husband, Pavit Randhawa, was right to say Jessel’s tone of voice was unpleasing, and both guests said yes.
Another controversial event Ubah defended was Jessel complaining about the heat while away at Erin’s sleepover.
“Oh, my God, it was Alaska,” Ubah stated. “It was so cold, I thought I was in Alaska.”
Ubah admitted she and the other Housewives “forgot” to check in with Erin about her grandmother’s funeral, so when Jessel asked if the event “went well,” she was in the right.
“That’s a British thing!” Hughes exclaimed.
“I have to defend her on that because none of us even asked Erin that,” Ubah confessed.
Finally, Jessel was forgiven for her fashion snafu when wearing an Alexander Wang jacket with a Balenciaga bag in the Hamptons.
Ubah couldn’t always defend Jessel
Ubah and Hughes were mostly unified in their answers, and both couldn’t get on board with Jessel doubling down on calling the Housewives “cackling hags,” something Jessel copped up to British humor.
“It’s not a British sense of humor,” said Hughes. “We don’t say that!”
Ubah “absolutely” could not get behind Jessel backing Brynn Whitfield’s controversial comments at Erin and Abe Lichy’s 10-year wedding anniversary. Hughes, for her part, said, “It was funny.”
“If it was your husband, you would not like it,” Ubah said to an unmarried Hughes.
Both WWHL guests referred to Jessel’s look of disgust when learning Jenna’s real name was Judith as something indefensible.

Finally, Ubah couldn’t bring herself to support Jessel’s desire to send her and Pavit’s toddler sons, Rio and Kai, to a private preschool with a whopping $62,000 tuition.
Jessel previously told RHONY producers, “In New York, where you go to school is your status,” arguing that her husband was “cheap” for not wanting to send their kids to the same school where Tom Cruise’s children once went.
“Her reason was not making sense,” Ubah said on WWHL. “Rubbing shoulders with Tom Cruise?”
Hughes disagreed, claiming she’d love to rub shoulders with the Hollywood actor.
“Here’s the thing: $60,000 to a great school, if there’s a reason why,” Ubah told Andy. “But rubbing shoulders with people? Come on.”
