What Is Kyle Richards’ White Party? The History of the Famous RHOBH Event
The over-the-top bash made a triumphant return for the Season 13 finale.
For the Season 13 finale of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kyle Richards took her annual White Party to a new level when she hosted the fete at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California with a comeback performance by Erika Jayne.
“The White Party is very nostalgic for us because this has always been about our family. I’d much rather put my energy and focus on planning a White Party than all the stuff I’m dealing with in my personal life. So the White Party is coming back bigger and better than ever,” Kyle explained in the episode (part of which can be seen in the video above).
The bash has come a long way since she first began hosting them in the early 2000s in the backyard of the home she shares with husband Mauricio Umansky.

How did Kyle Richards’ White Party start?
RHOBH fans know Kyle to be a bit of a perfectionist, and her attire-themed bash actually began because she wanted her guests to all look good and cohesive.
“Everybody looks pretty in white,” she explained to BravoTV.com circa 2016. (Watch that video below.) “I really like everything to look beautiful at a party, and you do these parties where you’d be all dressed up, and some people come in jeans and other people come dressed up. So, I thought, ‘I’m going to make it like everyone’s in white. That way, whether they’re in white jeans or a beautiful white gown, everyone’s going to look good.’”
“A lot of times people ended up in the pool with their white outfits but whatever,” Kyle explained. “Hey, it’s all in fun.”
Much to her enjoyment, guests were just as excited by the dress code. “It just sort of stuck, and everyone loved it,” she said. “Next thing you know, months in advance friends would be calling: ‘When’s the White Party? Because I already found my outfit.’”
When is Kyle Richards’ White Party?
The summer fete has historically been connected to Mauricio Umansky’s June birthday.
“That whole White Party really started for my birthday,” Mauricio once told The Daily Dish. “My birthday's June 25, so we just figured every year it'll be the beginning of the summer and we'll kick it off with a birthday party that will be the White Party that will become more known as the White Party rather than my birthday party."

Kyle Richards’ RHOBH Season 2 White Party
During Season 2, Kyle’s White Party was documented in Episode 16, and RHOBH fans got to see the full scope of the epic celebration. She threw the 300-person backyard bash shortly after moving into a new house. “I don’t know what I was thinking,” Kyle confessed in the episode as she prepped for the event.
Still, the party turned out beautifully — but not without some drama between the guests. Some of Kyle’s friends were hesitant to attend because they didn’t want to see Taylor Armstrong’s then-husband Russell Armstrong, who was threatening to sue some of the women for things they'd said about him.
Kyle Richards’ RHOBH Season 3 White Party
“I’m hoping that the party is big enough that people who don’t want to see each other can sort of disappear,” Kyle joked at the beginning of her Season 3 White Party, which aired in Episode 14.
She probably never would have guessed what actually emerged from the party: a rumor that of of her fellow cast members had sex during the event. At the Season 3 reunion, the cast member admitted to kissing someone at the party but said that it hadn't gone any further.

RHOBH Season 5 premiered in November 2014, and Episode 1 featured Kyle’s White Party for that year, where many cast members were able to reconnect and made amends.
