Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke Are "Not Ready" to Have Kids: "I Am a Little Scared"

For seven seasons of Summer House now, Kyle Cooke has lived by his signature catchphrase, "Summer should be fun,” and by the looks of it, he intends to keep it that way for him and his wife, Amanda Batula — at least for now.

As fans may recall, Amanda previously faced a pregnancy scare (as we saw on Season 3 of Winter House) and though the results were negative, Kyle fanaticized with the thought of his spouse having a baby.

“There’s a side of me that was hoping it’d be positive because it would be pretty serendipitous... I know we’re determined to have a family, and the longer we wait, the more we’re going to probably overthink things,” he said in a confessional during an episode.

Flash-forward to the Season 8 premiere of Summer House, which aired on February 22, and it turns out that the couple has no plans of expanding their family anytime soon for a specific reason.

During Amanda’s catch-up chat with her roomies (clip above), she told the ladies that she’s in a “no patience era” with Kyle. She further explained her notion in a confessional, saying, “Over the winter, I ended up taking a pregnancy test, and I feel like ever since, we haven’t been in a really good place.”

She continued: “Taking that test really made us start to think about what’s next for us, and we’re not ready.”

Later in the episode, Kyle reflected on issues in his marriage when talking with Paige DeSorbo in hopes of getting advice to help him and Amanda get to a “better” place.

“[Amanda] says things that just shut me down. I don’t feel as a team we’re really functioning as well as I like,” Kyle explained. “We’re starting to talk about next steps, we’re talking about [a] family, we’re talking about looking for homes, but my god I am a little scared sh-tless.”

With Kyle expressing his honest thoughts, Paige couldn’t help but wonder if he'd had a conversation with Amanda about his feelings. And as Kyle then revealed, “I haven’t been this point blank.”

Naturally, Paige informed Amanda about her discussion with Kyle, but she quickly shut down his thoughts by telling her friend, “He’s full of sh-t.”

Amanda and Kyle’s views on kids aren’t the only thing that’s driving a wedge between them. Also, on the Season 8 premiere, the two discussed how Kyle’s beverage company, Loverboy, has affected their relationship.

While hanging out at the carnival, Kyle told Amanda that he wants them to “spend more time together” in the Hamptons. Of course, the brunette beauty wasn’t opposed to the idea, but she did note that Kyle’s lack of “presence” was due to him staying at the “office” when they were back home.

As for Kyle’s reaction? He told Amanda, “I kind of want to go back to the basics where we are a little more inseparable,” to which she replied, “We’ll figure it out.”
