Joe & Melissa Gorga Do Not Agree About One Major Aspect of Antonia’s College Life
The Real Housewives of New Jersey parents aren’t seeing eye to eye on their high school senior’s future living situation.
Antonia Gorga has grown up before our eyes on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, experiencing so many milestone moments along the way. Now, Melissa Gorga and Joe Gorga’s eldest kid is getting ready to head to college, but the couple have very different feelings about their high school senior eventually moving out of their house and onto a college campus.
“Joe is panicking. I’m like, good for her. Go, girl, go,” Melissa told People. “Joe’s like, ‘All she’s going to do is party and drink and eat and [hang out with] boys.’”
“I’m like, ‘Joe, there’s actually education in college,’” she continued with a laugh, noting that Joe argued there’s “very little.” As Melissa explained, “[Joe is] this typical, he doesn’t want his daughter to go. He’s like, ‘She could just drive,’ and I’m like, ‘No.’”
Melissa is especially excited for Antonia to take care of her own day-to-day needs without Melissa’s help. “She needs to know what it’s like to wash her own clothes and buy her own detergent. I just think she needs that,” Melissa explained, adding that she feels her daughter is “very sheltered.”
“I do everything for her,” she said. “It’s good for her to be independent and learn who she is, so I’m excited for her. It’s going to be a huge change not to have her bossing us around this house like she does, but I think it’s going to be great for her.”
In December 2022, Melissa revealed that Antonia had received her first college acceptance to Penn State University. Weeks later, she shared an update that Antonia had also been accepted to the University of Delaware and the University of Rhode Island. On January 25, Melissa, Joe, and Antonia toured the University of Delaware on a rainy day. Sharing photos of the trio smiling in bright yellow ponchos, Melissa captioned one of her Instagram Stories, “Parent things.”
Until Antonia leaves for college, she will spend the rest of her senior year living in the Gorga family’s stunning new house. The family moved into the home in November 2022, and as Melissa has shown on social media, it includes a chic office, a beautiful kitchen, and a cozy living room.
