All the Details on Heather Dubrow's Jaw-Dropping Current and Former Homes
The RHOC cast member sold her iconic Dubrow Chateau for a record-breaking price and purchased multiple homes in L.A.
Heather Dubrow's 22,000-square-foot Newport Beach mansion, the Dubrow Chateau, was one of the most-talked-about among any of the Real Housewives' homes for its unapologetic glamour and over-the-top luxury features. "My house has become sort of a character on the show," The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member once said—and it's hard to disagree with that.
Still, Heather and her husband, Terry Dubrow, recently decided it was time to part ways with the manse, selling the estate for a record-breaking $55 million in 2022. The same year, the couple purchased a new Los Angeles penthouse that isn't quite as large as their former abode, but it is equally luxurious and awe-inspiring. In July 2023, they announced their purchase of a historic Beverly Hills mansion for $16.1 million.
But those aren't the only real estate wonders in the Dubrows' portfolio. Throughout their relationship, the pair have lived in nearly 20 homes together, according to Architectural Digest, and they've hinted at an interest in potential new vacation properties including a Mexico getaway home and an Idaho property.
Here's everything you want to know about Heather's incredible homes.
The House Heather Dubrow Grew Up In
Heather Dubrow is practically synonymous with Orange County luxury, but she didn't always reside in the sought-after California area — nor did she want to.
"I am from a little town in Westchester [County], New York, called Chappaqua," Heather shared in her first season on RHOC. "I came down to Orange County kicking and screaming ... I was living in L.A. for quite some time and working as an actress steadily, and I met on a blind date — not a consult — this great guy, plastic surgeon Dr. Terry Dubrow."
Heather Dubrow went House-Hunting in Season 7
When we first met Heather on Season 7 of RHOC, real estate was top of mind: Her first-ever scene centered around scoping out a potential property to purchase with cast mate Tamra Judge as the realtor. At the time, Heather was ready to leave her Newport Coast house for something larger.
"When we built the house, we literally built it for three children," she explained in the episode. "Upstairs there's a master suite and there's a common room with three kids' bedrooms around it. So, I had this surprise little fourth child, and now, we don't have enough bedrooms upstairs. We couldn't figure out a way to bunk all the kids together, so, we are actually just thinking that we want to sell the house and build another one."
At the time, Heather was considering a $4.9 million lot in Crystal Cove and the lot next door. "There's not even a house on it," Tamra explained in the episode. "That's a lot of money for a pile of dirt." (In the end, Heather passed on the lot.)
Heather and Terry Dubrow's Original RHOC House
That's not to say the house the Dubrows were already living in wasn't incredible itself: It was actually located in an area Heather referred to as "billionaire's row."
"It's 14,300 [square feet] not including the garage and the loggias," Heather explained at the Season 7 reunion, adding that they were also working on a new pool for the property.
"Building this house was a real accomplishment for both of us [Terry and me]," Heather said earlier in Season 7. "From conception to finishing building, it took about six years to build this home and we're very, very proud of it."
As one might expect, the home has lots of fancy features. "We built a very large entryway so we had a big space to have parties in," Heather shared. "There's a lot of space for the kids to run around and play, and we have a movie theater and it's actually a separate room from the rest of the house. It was built out so the sound in there is perfect."
The Dubrow Chateau in Newport Beach was completed in 2015
Eventually, Heather and Terry did end up building their dream home in Newport Beach, which they dubbed Dubrow Chateau—and the lengthy construction was documented on RHOC.
Although the home was completed around 2015, fans didn't get a full tour until years later, since Heather took a hiatus from RHOC from Season 11 to Season 15. But, when Heather returned in Season 16, she gave BravoTV.com a full tour of the jaw-dropping property, as seen in the video above.
Highlights of the home include an infinity pool with a majestic view, a custom-etched glass mural, a massive gong in the backyard, and a 22-foot chandelier made of semiprecious stone which, Heather said during the tour, "came in on the largest container to ever come into the United States."
The design of the abode was entirely Heather's doing. “The last house we built, I had some input,” Terry told Architectural Digest in 2018. “We had the usual disagreements—‘build a house, lose a spouse’ kind of thing. With this house she said, ‘Here’s the deal. I’m going to build this house, but I don’t want to hear anything from you at all.’ And so that was the rule.”
The arrangement paid off. “He loves 100 percent of this house,” Heather told the publication. She opted for a mostly neutral color palette with textures of stone, wood, and leather. "I didn’t repeat fabrics, but I used the same tones or the same fabrics in different colors, in different rooms,” she added. “There are repeating elements in that respect.”
Heather and Terry Dubrow's Mysterious Idaho Property
In 2020, Heather and Terry already had their sights set on their next real estate project. "We actually just bought a plot of land in Idaho," Heather revealed on RealiTea With Derek Z in October of that year. "I had never been to Idaho before. I'd never even been to that corner of the world."
She continued: "My friend was going there and I'm like, 'Yeah, we'll come' ... I had this lake house fantasy and I dragged Terry there, leather jacket and all—which he never took off the entire time in the summer at the lake—and I fell in love and I'm designing a house right now."
Not much more is known about the elusive property.
The Dubrows' Plans for a Cabo Vacation Home
In Season 16 of RHOC, Heather revealed that she and Terry were pursuing yet another home build—this time, in Mexico.
"Terry and I have been talking about vacation homes for the last two years," Heather said in a January 2022 episode of the show. "What I picture is a really beautiful, cool, sexy hideaway."
"I would love to build a house in Cabo," she shared in a February 2022 episode.
However, she and Terry didn't exactly see eye to eye on budget. "When Terry and I talk about a budget, design, I am looking for something that speaks to me," she said. "Terry wants to make sure it's also speaking to his wallet."
In the episode—which followed a cast trip to Mexico—Heather toured some potential properties. First up: a $13 million 26,000-square-foot home that had seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a wraparound pool. Next on the list was an $8 million lot that was just over an acre. Heather called Terry to discuss the idea of building a house there but, after estimating that the estimated total cost of building the home could be around $15.5 million, the couple decided to hold off.
Later in the year, she confirmed that their plan never came to fruition. "The thing about Cabo is it's L.A. prices right now," Heather noted in October 2022.
Heather and Terry Dubrow bought a luxe L.A. penthouse
At BravoCon in October 2022, Heather surprised viewers by revealing that she and Terry had bought a "love shack" in Los Angeles. Though we have yet to get a full tour of the apartment, Heather has offered tantalizing peeks on her Instagram.
In November 2022, she documented a breathtaking sunset, which made it clear that the view must have been a selling point of the pad. Also in the photo: a large balcony flanked by an iron-and-glass railing.
In December 2022, Heather revealed a glimmer of the interior when showing off her "new selfie place" in the home. The Instagram Story showed Heather posing in front of a room with cozy white chairs, gray curtains, and a sparkling chandelier.
Later, she shared glimpses of her glam foyer and her seemingly endless closet complete with a chandelier, an ottoman, and several sectioned-off shelves and hanging spaces for her amazing wardrobe. Heather and Terry visited their new penthouse in RHOC Season 17 Episode 11.
Heather and Terry Dubrow Sold the Dubrow Chateau for $55 Million
Days earlier at BravoCon, Heather had been circumspect about the future of the chateau. "I'm in a very transitional stage in my family's life with two kids off to college and the third not that far behind — and then the fourth not that far behind that," she said at BravoCon. "You know, Terry and I have been having lots of conversations about what's happening next with us."
Just days after Heather's big BravoCon announcement, she confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the couple had also sold their famed Newport Beach mansion for $55 million. “With two kids at college, we’ve been thinking about our next move,” she told the publication. “We just bought a cool penthouse in L.A., and sometimes, the universe shows you the right direction. Change is exciting!”
She added: "What I would say is, just like when you first get married and you're having those conversations about where you're gonna go, what you're gonna do with your lives, we're kind of having like a second moment of that. Like, 'Oh my god, they're almost gone. What are we gonna do? Where are we gonna go?' And so we got this apartment as kind of our little pied-à-terre in B-H to see where we're going next."
The sale of their home broke the record for the largest sale of the year in Orange County, California and was the third-highest sale in Orange County history. And according to ET, sources say Million Dollar Listing: Los Angeles’ Josh Altman represented the Dubrows in the sale — which was unexpected since the house wasn’t on the market. See Heather and Terry get the news about their home's sale in RHOC Season 17 Episode 12, above.
Heather and Terry Dubrow’s New Beverly Hills Mansion
On July 24, Heather announced via Instagram that the couple had purchased what she dubbed the “Dubrow Dream House.”
“Watch out Beverly Hills, The Dubrow dream house is officially underway!” she wrote. “We are so excited to redo this legendary home.”
She later confirmed to ET that the couple had closed on a Beverly Hills estate that once belonged to legendary producer Dino De Laurentiis (who died in 2010) and his wife, equally legendary producer Martha De Laurentiis (née Schumacher), who passed away in December 2021.
“We tried to buy five or six properties all over Cabo, Newport Beach, Beverly Hills, Palm Springs and the universe landed us here, at the most iconic, Hollywood estate,” Heather told ET, noting that the couple plans to take three years to renovate the 9,000 sq. foot Beverly mansion, which sits on 8.2 acres and includes a canyon.
The house, which was built in the 1940s, was originally listed for $37.5 million in March 2022, according to Dirt, but the Dubrows closed on it for $16.1 million — again with the help of Million Dollar Listing: Los Angeles’ Josh Altman, who helped the couple sell the Dubrow Chateau just last year.
