Candiace Dillard Looked Like Royalty Dripping in Swarovski Crystals on Her Wedding Day
The Real Housewives of Potomac pageant queen tied the knot with Chris Bassett while wearing the most stunning ballgown.
Don't call Candiace Dillard a princess — on her wedding day, The Real Housewives of Potomac beauty looked like a true queen. The pageant star, who tied the knot with her "susband"-turned-husband Chris Bassett in D.C. on Saturday, August 11, was truly a vision in a ballgown that dreams are made of.
Candiace strutted down a gilded aisle with floating, white bloom-decked chandeliers in a custom silk organza wedding dress by New York designer Karen Sabag, according to People. The flowing ballgown had a whopping 70-yard skirt, so you know that jaws dropped when this bride walked into the room. But the best part had to be the straps: on each shoulder sat a French bow, which was beaded by hand and covered in 80 yards of Swarovski crystals. She topped it all off with a long and elegant veil.
“That dress was everything I wanted it to be and then some,” Candiace gushed to People. “I knew I wanted a ballgown and I tried on several, but they just weren’t doing it. But Karen made it happen. It had the perfect drop-waist bodice, because when you’re a short girl wearing a ballgown, you have to be careful about it cutting you off on the wrong lines. And it was so light. It looked heavy, but I was really able to dance and jump around and move in it. I loved it.”
Candiace donned the dress to both the ceremony and the reception, but changed into a minidress with a halter neck and cold-shoulder sleeves for the afterparty.
The groom looked sharp in a white jacket with a black lapel, and a crisp white bowtie.
