Superfan Padma Lakshmi Reveals Her "Favorite Thing" About In-N-Out (Weirdly, It's Not the Food)
The Bravo's Top Chef host happens to be one of the foremost experts on In-N-Out — this is her latest revelation.
Padma Lakshmi knows her In-N-Out. Sure, she's the host of Bravo's Top Chef, and she's surrounded by elevated cuisine. But she's also a serious devotee of the fast-food chain — she can easily name the best location to hit on the West Coast (and now you know it, too). Plus, she's down to end even the fanciest Hollywood awards show night with an In-N-Out fix while still clad in her red-carpet gown.
Padma's latest visit to the cult-favorite burger chain revealed a bit more about what she loves about the place. Having just touched down in Los Angeles, Padma shared on her Instagram stories a clip of her first stop in town: naturally, an In-N-Out location. "I don't know exactly where we are, but we are still very close to the airport — because we almost got decapitated by a landing plane as we exited our car," she said in the clip.
We know that spot! Yes, that's the In-N-Out location on the northwest corner of Sepulveda and 92nd — so close to the LAX runways, you can practically smell the deep fryer and the jet fuel at the same time. And yes, it's very well positioned for visitors to town who, like Padma, are desperate to get their fix as soon as they de-plane!
As Padma waited in line at the counter (yes, right behind mere mortals who seemed more focused on their burgers than the star in their midst), she revealed to the camera one of the features that tickles her most about the place.
And no, it's not the food: rather, it's the iconic staff uniforms. "The thing I love most are the big, huge diaper pins on the back of all the guys [aprons] making the burgers," she said. "It's so bizarre and weird and surreal."
Cool, sure. But our favorite thing is animal-style fries.
