If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “Man, I wish I was a sloth so I didn’t have to worry about all of this Valentine’s Day nonsense,” we’ve got news for you: Even sloths aren’t immune to the pressures of the Hallmark holiday.
Luckily, one lovelorn sloth has caretakers who are happy to play Cupid. Jabba, a two-toed sloth at The Beardsley Zoo in Connecticut, was recently introduced to Hope, another two-toed sloth who relocated from John Ball Zoo in Michigan last month.
But in typical sloth fashion, the two are taking it (ahem) slow. The Beardsley Zoo had been keeping Hope in her own habitat as she acclimated to life on the east coast. But now that she’s found her Connecticut cool, caretakers have moved her enclosure next door to Jabba’s bachelor pad — and it seems the two have struck up something of a relationship.
Beardsley Zoo is optimistic that the sweet lil slowpokes will fall in true love and start a two-toed family. But as everyone knows, you can’t hurry love — especially with sloths.
