Ladies, Ryan Lochte has confirmed he’s single.
Ryan and Playboy Playmate Kayla Rae Reid have been spotted hanging out together at the Rio Olympics, but the swimmer, who has finished his work at the games, plans to start furiously swiping right on Tinder.
Talking to Today near the beach in Brazil, Ryan said he’s actively on the app and that it’s really him.
“It is verified,” he said. “From what I recall back in 2012, the Netherlands' field hockey [team] – that was a big hit in 2012.” He also mentioned being interested in the female volleyball players as well.
“I haven't been able ... to see them around,” he said. "Now that I'm available …”
Prior to Rio, Ryan said Tinder was working, ”matching up with a bunch of gorgeous women who are smart" with "professional jobs and everything."
(Here's Mr. Adorable doing his thing.)
Ryan’s been using the app since 2014.
“I heard it took off in Sochi [at the 2014 Winter Olympics] and then people were talking about it and I was like, 'Let me try this,'" Ryan, 31, tells Cosmopolitan. "So I got on it and I've been matching up with a bunch of gorgeous women who are smart, they have professional jobs and everything. I'm like, 'Wow, this is perfect.' So I've been on Tinder lately. So far I haven't had any dates or anything. I've just been talking with a couple [women]."
He’s also given Bumble and Raya a go.
"Well with Bumble, the girl always has to make the first [move], and I don't really like that. I don't think that's a woman job. So I got off that," he said. "And then Raya [an app for celebrities], I don't know. I'm living in Charlotte so that didn't really work because most of the women you link up with are either in L.A. or New York. Honestly, if she can make me laugh, then I'm pretty much sold. If she's not funny, she's taking life too seriously and that's definitely not how I live my life. I have fun in any aspect of life. I'm an Olympic athlete, and there are a lot of demands I have that go on in my life," he said. "I'm always on the road. If [women are] always depending on me to help them, or they're not independent, that's a big turnoff."
