Maire Byrne, formerly of Chez Panisse in Berkeley (also Ajax Tavern in Aspen and Aqua in San Francisco) recently opened Local Kitchen & Wine Bar, her second Santa Monica restaurant; her first is Thyme Cafe and Market. Those hand-crafted pizzas, pastas and seasonal small plates, oh my! Some of chef Stephen Murray's menu highlights at Local Kitchen include the incredible Chicken Under a Brick, with balsamic-chile glaze, charred onion and chile.
Then there's the Swiss Chard Malfatti, with heirloom squash fonduta, roasted pear, sage and brown butter.
