This Spectacular L.A. Restaurant Will Make You Want to Move In

Here's one reason: Chicken grilled under a hot brick is one of the best things ever.

Maire Byrne, formerly of Chez Panisse in Berkeley (also Ajax Tavern in Aspen and Aqua in San Francisco) recently opened Local Kitchen & Wine Bar, her second Santa Monica restaurant; her first is Thyme Cafe and Market. Those hand-crafted pizzas, pastas and seasonal small plates, oh my!  Some of chef Stephen Murray's menu highlights at Local Kitchen include the incredible Chicken Under a Brick, with balsamic-chile glaze, charred onion and chile.

Then there's the Swiss Chard Malfatti, with heirloom squash fonduta, roasted pear, sage and brown butter.

For dessert, Banana Budino.

And...the Fig & Thyme cocktail, made with Boyd & Blair vodka, Earl Grey tea, citrus and egg white.

As if the delicious food weren’t enough, the decor makes us want to move in.

The cozy, casual environment will have you staying well past your bedtime. (Unless you’re there for lunch in which case, get back to work, friends!) To read more about Local Kitchen & Wine Bar and other restaurant and style finds, check out contributor Jen Pinkston's blog, The Effortless Chic.
