The proud owner also reveals his dog's pack of famous canine pals.

Andy Cohen had never had a pet until just this past October. But when he adopted rescue dog Wacha, the furry friend practically won him over at first sight.

"I saw this dog on Petfinder.com, and he was looking at me," Andy tells St. Louis Post-Dispatch of that fateful day. "I’m a big fan of Snoopy, and I’d kind of wanted a beagle, and this dog was a beagle mix. He just struck me. I couldn’t stop looking at him."

Taking the pup on a trial first date, Andy says he almost got cold feet. "I met with him, and it pinged every commitment issue I have," he admits. "He was bigger than I thought he would be; he weighs about 40 pounds. He just seemed to be way more dog than I was prepared for."

But soon Wacha's tenacious attitude and mellow temperament got Andy to fall head over heels. "He was trying so hard. At that point I knew, you are mine. He’s lovely and lovable," Andy says. "We are in love."

Wacha also has some pretty high-flying canine pals to brag of. "I got my dog walker from Sarah Jessica Parker. Wacha’s doggy companions are her dog, Kissy Broderick, and Neville Jacobs, who belongs to Marc Jacobs," Andy says. "From a shelter in West Virginia, now he’s prancing around in Central Park with fancy dogs.”

This weekend, Andy will show off his love to his hometown of St. Louis: he's acting as grand marshal for Sunday's Beggin' Pet Parade.

We raise and train Treeing Walker Hounds, very closely related to Foxhounds. They will steal your heart. Wonderful and loyal friend for life! Welcome to my world Andy!

That is beautiful! Dogs are lovable, loyal to the end & a very good companions They don't talk back at you, they always happy to see you & they always greet you at the door wagging their tail & my dog always had a smile on his face. It was too cute! Sometimes I think he understood every word I said & I was waiting for him to speak back to me. You could just see the look on his face, it looked like he wanted to say something so bad. I had him for 11 yrs before cancer took him from me. He passed in my arms & I told him I would meet him at the rainbow bridge. He is one animal that will always have a place in my heart.

Love you Andy

Cute puppy!! My husband of almost 26 years came to me a few years back and claimed that he "wanted a beagle his entire life".   Hmmmm, funny, that was the first time I heard about it.  We already had the PERFECT dog, Max a Stitz-poo mix plus 3 cats at the time so I was hesitant to say the least.  But...I figured since my hubby was/is SUCH A GREAT GUY that we could handle a beagle.  We went to our local rescue and bought what they said was a beagle mix...turned out that the "mix" was DALMATION.  Talk about more dog than we bargined for!!  His name is Toby, he is 2 1/2 years old and weighs 53 pounds, sigh. As Kathy Griffin has pointed out, those rescue people are great, but they lie like a rug!! LOL.  I wish Max and Toby could join you and Wacha! sometime on a walk but alas that would involve a lot of transportation that frankly my pups would not enjoy, lol as they are Minnesota born and bred dogs.  I love Bravo! and I love WWHL, my DVR is taping every show!

Hi Andy, how cute is he?!  I recued two little pups last month from a shelter in the Florida Keys and they have single-pawedly(?) changed my life. I'm always in a good mood and can't wait to get home and play with them. I imagine you feel the same exact way. I've actually started volunteering at different events that the shelter has to raise money. Next month they are having a Wolfstock day with music, vendors, etc. and pet adoptions. For anyone who hasn't discovered the love these animals can give, they should look into it. Congratulations on your new family member. He seems totally at home in the picture with you. :)

I adopted my cat when he was at the bottom wrung, at an LA Pound.  He meowed so much and I am sure the people there could not wait to get rid of him!   It was fate and I was there for him.   Hope your doggie is doing fine.  I used to have dogs-- trained them, etc., when I was a kid.  Good luck with your adorable dog.

LOVING watching Andy turn into a completely enamored mush puddle over his adopted rescue love-pup.  The unconditional love, limitless joy and companionship provided by rescued animals is indicative of the fact that they in fact rescue us.  THRILLED FOR YOU ANDY!

congratulations Andy -  You are so caring - it would just seem natural that you need a pooch! I adopted a dog from the Humane Society - they called him Binky.. and he rules our roost! Best to you ..
