Aesha Scott Says She Was "Put off" by Jack Stirrup When They First Met

Aesha Scott and Jack Stirrup were #CoupleGoals this season of Below Deck Mediterranean. But their whirlwind romance almost didn't happen.

Aesha told The Daily Dish during an interview earlier this season that she actually wasn't really into Jack when she first met him aboard the Sirocco. "I remember on the first day, the first couple days, I was kind of like, 'Uh, no thank you,'" she recalled, before listing a couple of things she really didn't find attractive about the deckhand.

"First of all, I thought he is too into his looks. I just could tell he was one of those quite metro guys. I don't really like it when guys care about how they look too much. You know, I'm just like a T-shirt and jeans kind of girl for guys," she explained. "And then the other thing was that one of the first stories he told me was how he used to lose his job all the time in London because he lived on a boat, like a canal boat. And then if he would wake up in the morning and it was like pissing down with rain and cold outside, he just didn't want to go. And he said he just lost heaps of jobs. I just remember hearing that, and I was like, oh, that's so irresponsible. Like, it's just not very manly to me."

Aesha continued, "That side of him I really didn't find very attractive, not even just for a man, just for people in general. I think you need to have responsibility, and if you've got a job, set a bloody alarm and get up and do your job. And yeah, I don't know, I just didn't really like that side of him. So when I heard that story, I was a bit put off."

But once Aesha got to know Jack, she obviously became quite smitten with him. "But then as time went on, and I learned about him as a person and saw his heart and that kind of thing, I was like, oh, no, despite that, he's a really lovely person," she said.

Unfortunately, Aesha and Jack's relationship was not meant to be. Aesha called it quits with the deckhand after she found out he was back together with his girlfriend, with whom he had broken up before this season of Below Deck Med, while they were still an item. Prior to Below Deck Med Season 4, Aesha said she was not a fan of hooking up with crew members. "I personally always try and avoid it just because it does tend to make things a bit messier or you get distracted and things like that," she told The Daily Dish. "I definitely wouldn't do yachting with a boyfriend. Like, I've purposely avoided having boyfriends just because it's too hard. We're so busy all the time, there's just no time to have calls and do messages. They're gonna end up mad, and you're gonna end up guilty but tired but still working. So I definitely would avoid that."

However, Aesha doesn't regret having a boat romance with Jack. "It was actually really nice having Jack during the season. Because it is such hard work, it was actually really nice having little hugs and having little kisses and just something quickly as you walk by. It's like a nice thing into your day when you're running around and your feet hurt and you're making all these drinks," Aesha said. "Yeah, so I don't know. Maybe now I'll be more open to it in the future."

But for now, Aesha isn't planning on mixing business with pleasure again anytime soon. "But no, for the most part, I still avoid boys in yachting," she said. "It never works."
