Candiace Dillard Bassett and Chris Detail the "One Surprise" Amid Her Pregnancy

Candiace Dillard Bassett announced on April 15 that she's pregnant and expecting her first child with husband, Chris Bassett, weeks after announcing that she would be exiting The Real Housewives of Potomac.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Candiace opened up about her fertility journey and spilled all of the exciting details surrounding her pregnancy, including the "surprise" she's waiting on.

Candiace had been transparent about her journey with IVF throughout her time on RHOP. During the time on the show, Candiace shared that she and Chris were able to "go through with a successful egg retrieval" and ended up with six embryos.
She told ET that her pregnancy was from one of those embryos, which was implanted in January. Two weeks later, their doctor called and told them that she's pregnant.
Although there has been so much openness throughout this pregnancy, the couple revealed that they don't know if the doctors implanted a boy embryo or a girl embryo. "So, the doctors know," Chris told ET. "We did all the tests. Obviously, we wanted something healthy...and I was like, 'listen, let's just take the highest graded egg and we'll put it in there', and this is the one surprise of this whole experience that we don't know yet."
But don't worry, they do plan on finding out the sex later on in the pregnancy. "It's so cool that you literally have no idea what you're getting," Candiace said. "What their personality is, although at our last sonogram, signs are pointing to them being more like Chris than me."
Candiace shared that the baby is "laidback" and "camera shy" just like her husband. But no matter their personality, she's excited to see who their child becomes. "I'm just excited to support them...in whatever they want to do," she told ET.

Candiace Dillard Bassett announces she's pregnant
Candiace announced the news in a stunning video posted to her Instagram account on Monday, which features her and Chris standing in their kitchen and unpacking a basket. Among the items is a book, a rattle, and a tablet with the baby's ultrasound displayed on it.
"You always told me how great I am with words," Candiace said in a voiceover in the video. "Surprisingly though, when the time came, the perfect words just didn't exist. I am so ready to laugh with you for the rest of our breaths."

Candiace and Chris weren't the only ones who were so excited about their pregnancy. Candiace's friends, cast members, and several Bravolebrities took to the comments of her Instagram post, where they expressed their happiness for the couple — and even shared their tears of joy. The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Kenya Moore replied to the video with a series of crying emojis.
"So So happy for you two," Candiace's fellow RHOP cast member, Dr. Wendy Osefo, commented on the post.
"Congratulations girl!," The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Jennifer Aydin added. "Many blessings to you and your growing family!"
"Congratulations," The Real Housewives of Miami's Marysol Patton wrote.
