Tom Schwartz Says He Wants to Have Kids Soon: "I'll Be a Good Dad"

Tom Schwartz opened up to Scheana Shay and Brock Davies about his wish to start a family.

By Cydney Contreras

Tom Schwartz is ready to plant his seed — and no, we're not talking about the green, leafy kind.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

In Season 11, Episode 10 of Vanderpump Rules, Schwartz admitted that he's starting to feel like he's ready to start his own family. What made him feel that way? Well, his Instagram feed.

"Today I opened up Instagram and the first six posts were all people holding their stomachs like this having kids," he told Scheana Shay and Brock Davies as he put a hand over his belly. "I felt like it triggered my biological clock."

Seeing Brock and Scheana with their daughter, Summer Moon, only made him more eager to create his own clan. "I want your guys' life. I don't like my life anymore," he said.

Does Tom Schwartz want to have kids?

Yes, he said he very much wants to be a dad, but he's well aware of the fact that he's not currently in a serious relationship.

"It's like Father Time is just knocking at the back of my mind. 'Hello, hello, you're not getting any younger,'" he said.

That being said, he doesn't exactly have a timeline in mind.

However, he's fairly confident that he will be a "good dad," having co-parented two dogs with ex-wife Katie Maloney for the past two years.

Concerns about parenting aside, Schwartz hopes to be a "DILF," but acknowledged that if he has kids in the next few years, he won't be a young dad.

"I'm gonna be 60 when they graduate high school," he said.

Right now, Schwartz is in no rush to become a father.

But he said on the Vanderpump Rules After Show, "If I get to 50 and I don't have a kid yet, I'm gonna start panicking. I will be in panic mode — existential crisis mode. 'Cause that means when I'm 70, my daughter or son will be 20. I mean at 70, I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna be super mobile."

What Tom Schwartz Has Said About Parenting

This is not the first time Schwartz has brought up his desire to have kids. Back in December, Schwartz revealed that he has a serious case of "baby fever" while on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen!

He quickly added that it might be "just a phase."

And for a time, he and Katie were even considering starting a family. But the pair said that it would be awhile before they tried to conceive.

"First, we have to get our feet back on the ground, get a routine and a rhythm back and get our professional mojo flowing again," Schwartz told Bravo Insider back in April 2021.

However, as time passed, Katie realized that her relationship was no longer working for her and ultimately asked Schwartz for a divorce. They continue to co-parent Butter and Gordo together, which helped them establish an amicable relationship.

"We’re not best friends, we’re not super close, but we’re trying to find that sort of sweet spot,” Katie said in the Season 10 premiere. “Because we have dogs and a lot of love for one another and I just feel like he’s still such a huge part of my life and just kind of not having him in my life just feels so weird.”
