West Wilson Weighs In on Carl Radke & Kyle Cooke's Style: "No Offense to Them"
The Summer House newbie also shared the fashion advice he learned from his dad and his tips for date night dressing.
West Wilson likes to take risks. Whether the new Summer House cast member is whipping around an inflatable race track during a house party in the Hamptons or rocking a striped monochromatic look with statement-making cowboy boots on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, it's rare to see him playing it safe. During a recent interview with The Daily Dish, West talked all things fashion, including his best tips for dressing for a first date.
"I try to be like, subtly cool," the sports journalist shared of his personal style. He also dropped a helpful pointer that he learned from his father as a youngster: "You want one piece to be kind of a big deal. And everything else, you keep simple. I've been really into fun pants with like, plain tees recently."
During the Summer House Season 8 After Show, West put together a look that did exactly that. He let a pair of bold floral-printed pants do the talking, pairing them with a simple neutral-toned sweater and a pair of chunky combat boots. Jesse Solomon had some thoughts about the 'fit, noting, "You look like my grandma's drapes," to which West replied, "No, that's literally what these are." In the same clip, which you can check out above, West noted that he was helping Jesse work "on his sock swag."

West Wilson weighs in on Kyle Cooke & Carl Radke's wardrobes
Jesse isn't the only Summer House cast member West has had some fashion feedback for. During The Daily Dish interview, he explained the unlikely way Kyle Cooke and Carl Radke have influenced his style.
"Kyle and Carl, no offense to them, they're old dudes. They're like, very New York. Loafers, white pants, v-necks, button-ups all the time," West said. As a contrast, he considers his own apparel to be "not grunge," but something more along the lines of "baggy hipster."
"[It] was important for me to kind of stand out for how I dress this summer," explained the newbie. "So whether that was Jordans or a baggy tee... That was kind of how I approached it, was to make sure I didn't dress like Kyle or Carl."
When it comes to dressing for a first date, West has some helpful guidance.
"She's already been on your Hinge. She knows what you look like. Or she's already seen you. The first date is to get to know someone, so don't wear something stupid that's going to set you back," he said. "Keep it subtle. Wear your staples. It can be like, a collar or a nice tee. Don't do anything dumb."
Summer House airs Thursdays at 9/8c and streams the next day on Peacock.
