After Mila Kolomeitseva faced serious recurring challenges in the Sirocco gallery — facing demotion, then firing, by Captain Sandy Yawn — Anastasia Surmava stepped out of her role as third stew and into the galley as Below Deck Mediterranean chef.

Mila's missteps — a subpar taco night, and a steak-licking incident, for instance — led to questions about whether her bona fides were really as she claimed they were, including formal training at Le Cordon Bleu Paris. (Watch Mila explain her culinary background in a resurfaced video here.)

Based on what Anastasia saw on the yacht, does she think Mila really did have the training she claimed? "There is no way to tell," Anastasia told Starry Mag in a recent interview. "But she had all the [Cordon Bleu] swag so maybe?"

Anastasia's opinions of her boss are much more favorable. "Captain Sandy is certainly one of the most easygoing captains I have ever worked with," she told Starry Mag. "She shows everyone respect and gets it in return. She is easy to talk to and I always felt like I was supported."
